- MEBANE - Mrs. Sylvia Frances Graves, 70, of 224 Curry St., died August 7, 2010, at Kindred Hospital.
Born in Alamance, she was the daughter of the late Mr. James Edward Foust and the late Mrs. Annie Louise Trollinger Foust, and the wife of Harold (Buck) Thomas Graves. She was a faithful member and steward of Johnson Chapel AME Church. She was the church treasurer, a member of the Missionary Society and a member of the gospel choir.
She is survived by two sons, Gregory S. Graves, of the home, and the Rev. Michael L. Jackson (Stacey) of Mebane; two daughters, Elsie Simpson (Don) and Ellen Bradley (Frederick), both of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, Donald Foust of Mebane, and Ronald Foust of Southern Seasons Assisted Living in Burlington; one sister, Betty Vanhook (William) of Mebane; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one uncle, Kermit Trollinger (Barbara) of Mebane; one aunt, Robbie Foust of Mebane; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at 4 p.m. at Johnson Chapel AME Church, Mebane. The visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. prior to the service, with the family arriving at 3:30 p.m. The Rev. Larry McDonald Sr. will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be at Mebane Community Cemetery.
The wake will be held on Monday, August 9, 2010, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel, Burlington. Public viewing will be from 1 to 9 p.m. The family will receive friends at the residence.
Services are entrusted to Blackwell Funeral Home, Burlington.
