- James F. Hephner, 69, Garland, Texas, formerly of Hutchinson, passed away on Wednesday Feb. 1, 2006, in Richardson, Texas.
He was born Sept. 8, 1936, in Wichita, the son of John and Margaret Drollinger Hephner. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1954 in Wichita. He had been a Staff Sergeant in the Kansas Air National Guard.
He married Carol L. Myers on Nov. 24, 1955, in Wichita. They moved to Hutchinson in 1958. He was employed by the Dillon Company from 1960 until retirement in 1998. He worked as their aircraft mechanic and pilot and ended his career as President of Wells Aircraft. He worked from 1950 until 1998 in the aircraft business.
His wife passed away on March 8, 2002. He is survived by a daughter, Leslie Kveton, Garland, Texas; a son, Terrence Hephner, Haven; a granddaughter, Katie Triplett, Yukon, Okla.; two brothers, George Hephner, Wichita, and Pat Hephner, Arkansas City; and a sister, Gertrude Havner, California.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Tim and John; and a sister, Margaret.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at Penwell-Gabel's Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Merle "Bones" Nay officiating. Interment in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park will be private. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, in care of the funeral home.
