- Barbara Jean Drollinger, age 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. She was born on April 14, 1932, in Kilbourn, WI to Ronald "Jake" and Celia (Morse) Drollinger. She graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School and LaCrosse State Teachers College before going on to earn her Master's Degree at UW-Madison. She taught at Allen-Field Elementary School in Milwaukee until she retired and moved back to the Dells in 1992. Barbara was an avid sports fan who followed the Packers and Badgers and enjoyed attending Brewers games. She also loved traveling with her mother and sisters, playing bridge, and reading. A talented cook, she was once featured as The Milwaukee Journal's "Best Cook on the Block". Barbara was a member of the Wisconsin Dells Historical Society and Tuesday Club and also volunteered her time at the library. She was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt and was happiest when spending time with her family and friends. Barbara is survived by her sister, Shari (Larry) Haugen; nieces and nephews Melissa (Dan) Carlson, Erik (Tracie) Haugen, Dana (Troy) Matz, Jennifer McCright, Michael (Christina) Drollinger, and Patrick (Brenda) Drollinger; 14 great nieces and nephews, 6 great-great nieces and nephews, a cousin, Judy Carter Penton; dear friends, Donald Gavinski and Jane Rose, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Anne Drollinger, her brother, Jacob Drollinger, and her sister-in-law, Leah Drollinger. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. CECILIA'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 603 Oak Street, Wisconsin Dells at 11 AM on Friday, May 11, 2018 with Father Eric Sternberg officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Dells Country Historical Society, 714 Broadway, Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965, Kilbourn Public Library, 620 Elm Street, Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965 or to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church.
