- Shirley Ann Snyder, 81, Red Oak, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at the Griswold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Griswold.
Shirley was born Aug. 3, 1936, in Red Oak, the daughter of Clifford Chester and Rose Ellen (Houser) Page. She was raised and lived all of her life in Red Oak. Shirley was united in marriage to Alton Snyder on July 20, 1958, in Omaha. Shirley was first a homemaker, but also worked over the years at Rainbow Café, the Greenhouse, and at one time was a nanny. Shirley was known to be an excellent cook, loved to decorate and paint her home, was an excellent house keeper, loved her animals, enjoyed dancing, but most of all was crazy about her grandkids. Alton was the love of her life, and you did not see one without the other. They spent much time with friends and family and always enjoyed time at the Rainbow Café. They had many friends whom they considered "family."
Preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, Frank and Terry Snyder; sisters, Florence Archer, Marjorie Archer, Viola Page, Fayetta Cassidy, JoAnn Hawker, and Mary Ross; and brothers, Levi "Pete" Page, Chester Page, Frank "Bud" Page, and Johnny Page.
Survivors include her husband, Alton Snyder of Red Oak; sons, Mark Snyder and special friend Kelly Elliott of Red Oak, and John Snyder and husband Miles Berger of San Francisco, Calif.; daughters-in-law, Kelly Snyder of Red Oak, and Julie Snyder Miller and husband David of Arkansas; grandchildren, Sara Batten and husband Neil of Red Oak, Holly Ingram and husband Bion of Chariton, Cody Snyder of Red Oak, Josie Snyder and Cole Meek of Red Oak, Nolan Snyder of Bondurant, and Sophie Snyder of Red Oak; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Hayden, Franky, River, and soon-to-be-arriving Everlie; sister, Gladys Clark; and many other relatives and many friends.
A memorial visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at the Noble Manor.
Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with service preparations.
