LOT FRENCH WILL
Be it remembered that I, Lot French of Montgomery County, Indiana, being weak of body but sound and disposing of mind, knowing the certainity of death and uncertainty of life, in order to settle and dispose of my earthly concerns, do make and publish this, my last will and testament.
First, That all just debts be paid with those of a decent funeral at my burial.
Secondly, All monies that may be left from debts now oweing to me after payment of debts and expenses and not herein after disposed of, I will and bequeath to my beloved wife, Elizabeth, and that the profits and rents, use and occupation of my two farms in this county, the one commonly called the Scott place and the other, the home place on which we now live, I will and bequeath also to my said wife, Elizabeth, for and during her natural life. And I also give and bequeath to my said wife, Elizabeth, all my household and kitchen furniture to be by her fully used and enjoyed, and at her full disposal during her natural life - and after her death, the proceeds of what remains of the household an kitchen furniture, to be equally divided between my daughters, Sarah Cowan, Ann Cumberland, Betsey Moore, Amy Applegate, Jane C. French and Charlotte French and the children of Polly Cowan, dec'd, her children taking one equal share. The sum of about two hundred-fifty dollars which I have heretofore lent and advanced to my son, Adam Miller French, I now will and bequeath to him.
The share which is coming to me from my father's estate of a farm in the state of Pennsylvania or the proceeds thereof if the same is sold, I will and bequeath to my two sons, Adam Miller French and James French.
The three cows and ten sheep which I now own, I will and bequeath to my wife, Elizabeth, and she is to furnish each of my daughters, Jane C. and Charlotte, when they, or either of them, are married, with a cow and a sheep. The notes which I hold on people in the state of Ohio, being the proceeds of my values there, I will and bequeath to my son, James French and Ann Cumberland to be equally divided between them.
The balance of my property to be sold and the monies to be put to interest or applied to the support of my wife, Elizabeth, if found necessary, and after her death, it, together with the fee simple of my funds in this county, to be equally divided among my daughters and the children of Polly Cowan, dec'd, her children taking one equal share.
I do make and appoint Providence M. Currey and Nancy French Applegate to be my executors - to carry this, my last will and testament into effect. Thereby revoking all former wills and testaments by me. Wrote in testimony which I have hereunto set my hand and caused my seal to be affixed -
