According to the Northeastern Reporter, a law journal of state court cases used by law students ans lawyers, volume 45 page 6 in Bushrod vs State of Ohio;
On December 11, 1895, Bushrod Kelch, shot and killed his wife Addie Pensinger after she filed for divorce. His trial was set for February 1896 and heard by judge Ong. In March, 1896, Bushrod Kelch was convicted of 1st degree murder and sentenced to death. He appealed the conviction to Judge Birchard on a plea of insanity and in Oct 1896, his sentence was overturned and he was sent to prison for 15 years.
