- Russell L. Frieze, owner of Frieze Harley-Davidson in Belleville, died Friday (Nov. 15, 2002) at Barnes-Jewish Medical Center of cancer. He was 69 and lived in Belleville.
Mr. Frieze was born in Eddyville, Ill., and served in the Army.
In 1975, Mr. Frieze married Virginia Trollinger of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.
Mr. Frieze started his career as a driver for Red Arrow Freight in St. Louis and was known as a motorcycle enthusiast. In 1963, Mr. Frieze became owner of Frieze Harley-Davidson in
East St Louis, later moving the business to Belleville because of that city's economic growth. Mr. Frieze operated the store for more than 25 years until his health started failing in 1998, but he continued to own the business. This year, Mr. Frieze and his wife, Virginia "Jenny" Trollinger Frieze, opened a second store in O'Fallon, Ill. Mrs. Frieze continues to operate both stores.
