- DECEMBER 3, 1944 - FEBRUARY 24, 2021
Ida Mary Trollinger (née LaRoche), 76, returned home to the arms of the Lord on February 24, 2021. Ida was born December 3, 1944, in Albany, New York to her father, Alton Anthony LaRoche, and mother, Blanche Eve LaRoche (née Fisher) and grew up in Albany and Tupper Lake, New York. After graduating from high school in 1962, Ida moved to Boston, Massachusetts, when she was 18 and got her first job as a stenographer at Prudential Life Insurance Company's North Eastern Home Office. She was promoted several times eventually becoming an executive secretary. While working and living in Boston, she met three lifelong friends Chris, Ruthie, and Josh. In 1965, Ida took her first vacation as an adult to Nassau Island in the Bahamas with her friend Chris and thought wouldn't it be great fun to live in the Bahamas. The next year Ida moved to Orlando, Florida, to live with her friend Josh and her family, and while there interviewed with RCA for a job in the Bahamas. She got the job and two days later was on her way to Andros Island in the Bahamas where she lived for three years. Ida met her one and only true love, Robert Lee Trollinger, from San Antonio, Texas, who was stationed in the Bahamas while in the Navy. On December 30, 1967, they were married at Holy Name Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas. Two years later, she and Robert welcomed the birth of their son, John Michael Trollinger. In 1970, Ida began working for the Hilton Palacio Del Rio as Executive Secretary to the General Manager where she worked faithfully for 38 years until her retirement in 2008. Ida lived up to the meaning of her maiden name La Roche, which is French for "The Rock." Ida was a kidney transplant recipient and in the later years of her life underwent dialysis, but these health challenges never deterred her from living her life fully and enjoying many travel adventures with her husband, Robert, and in particular, they both loved visiting Las Vegas and Disney World. Ida had tremendous faith and was a devout Catholic. She was active in her home parish, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and had also been an early member of St. Padre Pio parish.
Ida is preceded in death by her loving parents, Alton and Blanche LaRoche; brother, George Kenneth LaRoche; sister, Patricia Ann Tymchn (née LaRoche); father-in-law, Samuel Lafayette Trollinger; mother-in-law, Mary Lee Trollinger (née Rugen); nephew, John Tymchyn; and niece, Nicole Bauman.
Ida is survived by her beloved husband of more than 53 years, Robert; her son, John Michael Trollinger (spouse: Mónica); granddaughters, Chlóe Elise Trollinger and Emily Rose Trollinger; brother-in-law, Walter Tymchyn; sister-in-law, Donna Jo Bauman (spouse: Ricky); niece, Stacie Ann Farina (spouse: Nick); nephews, Scott Tymchyn, Ryan Bauman (spouse: Reacheal), and Justin Bauman (spouse: Jo Anna).
