- Elizabeth McNeill Pickard, 91, of Apex, N.C. died Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Wake Medical Center Cary.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, with Rev. Jesse Bledsoe officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery at 1:30 p.m., half an hour prior to the service.
"Libby" was born June 20, 1921 in Fairmont, N.C. She was a graduate of Women's College (UNC-G) class of 1942 with a major in Home Economics and a minor in Science. She taught high school in Hookerton/Greene County Schools from 1942 to 1943, and at Rankin High School in Greensboro from 1943-1950. On December 26, 1946 she married J. Frank Pickard who preceded her in death on October 20, 1996. She was a member of Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. She was a member of the Guilford County Home Economics Club, Junior Women's Club and the Women's Auxiliary of the North Carolina Pharmaceutical Association. Lib was very active with the P.T.A., served on the Caldwell House Board, and volunteered at the School for the Mentally Disabled in Greensboro. She also worked part time at her husband's business, Pickard Pharmacy during the 1980s.
She is survived by her sons Jeff Pickard of Manassas, Virginia and Bill Pickard and his wife Allison Hunt Pickard of Apex, N.C. and their two children Ashley and Owen.
The family would like to say special thanks for the love given by her special family at the Crossings at Haddon Hall, Joe and Carolyn Holland, the many caring staff members and friends at Spring Arobor of Apex and the superb care given by Wake Med Cary.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening October 9, 2012 at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel, 515 N. Elm St., Greensboro, NC 27401.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Buffalo Presbyterian Church cemetery fund, the Caldwell House in Greensboro or to "One Life" at Salem Baptist Church in Apex, NC.
