10504 | I1989 | Drollinger | Johannes Petrus | 4 Jul 1766 | 20 Sep 1852 | 0 | Due to the preponderance of evidence, Gordon L. Drollinger and I are in agreement that the spelling of Peter's surname should be 'Drollinger' and not 'Trollinger'. (David H. Drollinger 29 Sep 2021) Peter of Longswamp/Hereford Township, b. 4 July 1766, bp. 1767 at Goshenhoppen Reformed Church, in Montgomery County, but on the Berks border--just down the road from Longswamp/Hereford. He was the son ofJacob (Friedrich Jacob, the immigrant) and Anna Maria Schick. Peter and wife Susanna Herb had 7 children, 4 who were mentioned in Peter's will--he d. 20 September 1852 and is buried in Mertz Church,Longswamp. This is Gary's ancestor. THIS PETER NAMES JACOB AS HIS FATHER; JACOB AND ANNA MARIA APPEAR IN HIS BAPTISMAL RECORD. This Peter was too young to serve in the Revolutionary war. His father, Jacob, worked at the Hereford Furnace--1752 until his death abt. 1780. The Hereford furnace made cannonball and other weaponry for the Revolution and Jacob was a skilled worker there and could not be drafted for the militia. Gary and Laree Trollinger email December 2002 Title: Emigrants from Baden and Wuertemberg in the Eighteenth Century, Volume: Vol. 1 Baden Durlach and vicinity Author: Brigitte Burkett Picton Press Page 63 Also in Werner Hacker's Auswanderer aus dem Baden und Breisgau #1709 Strassburger and Hinke List The ship Friendship which landed 20 Sep 1738 20 Sep 1738 landed at Philadelphia, Friendship passenger list. http://www.palproject.org/pa/1738friend.htm According to Laree Trollinger, Jacob worked for Thomas Mayburry (Mayberry) Iron works, Hereford furnace. Mayburry owned the furnace since 1745 (Bucks County Genealogical Society, Vol. 10, #2). Those working at the furnaces were not allowed to leave their work during the Revolution. Sometime between the years 1754 and 1758, Jacob married Anna Marie Schick, daughter of Valentine Schick, who had first title to land in Weissenberg Twp., Lehigh Co. (then Northhampton). The Schick property was approximately 10 miles from Mayberry's furnace where Jacob was later employed and where he and his wife are probably buried along with approximately 30 other persons, including Mayberry the ironmaster, in unmarked graves. Christian Schick is on the 1790 census in Hereford, and many Schicks (Shick, Sheek, etc.) appear in what was then Upper Bucks, then Northampton, now Northampton and Lehigh Counties. 1788 -- "Widow Drollinger" on Hereford Co. tax list. 1800 United States Federal Census Name: Peter Trollinger [Peter Trullinger] Home in 1800 (City, County, State): Tinicum, Bucks, Pennsylvania Free White Persons - Males - Under 10: 2 Free White Persons - Males - 26 thru 44: 1 Free White Persons - Females - Under 10: 1 Free White Persons - Females - 26 thru 44: 1 Number of Household Members Under 16: 3 Number of Household Members Over 25: 2 Number of Household Members: 5 1810 United States Federal Census Name: Peter Trollinger Home in 1810 (City, County, State): Hereford, Berks, Pennsylvania Free White Persons - Males - Under 10: 2 Free White Persons - Males - 10 thru 15: 1 Free White Persons - Males - 16 thru 25: 1 Free White Persons - Males - 26 thru 44: 1 Free White Persons - Females - Under 10: 1 Free White Persons - Females - 10 thru 15: 2 Free White Persons - Females - 26 thru 44: 1 Number of Household Members Under 16: 6 Number of Household Members Over 25: 2 Number of Household Members: 9 1820 United States Federal Census Name: Peter Trollinger Home in 1820 (City, County, State): Colebrookdale, Berks, Pennsylvania Enumeration Date: August 7, 1820 Free White Persons - Males - 16 thru 25: 1 Free White Persons - Males - 45 and over: 1 Free White Persons - Females - 16 thru 25: 2 Number of Persons - Engaged in Agriculture: 2 Free White Persons - Over 25: 1 Total Free White Persons: 4 Total All Persons - White, Slaves, Colored, Other: 4 1840 United States Federal Census Name: Peter Trollinger Home in 1840 (City, County, State): Washington, Berks, Pennsylvania Free White Persons - Males - 5 thru 9: 1 Free White Persons - Males - 60 thru 69: 1 Free White Persons - Females - Under 5: 1 Free White Persons - Females - 10 thru 14: 1 Free White Persons - Females - 60 thru 69: 1 Free White Persons - Under 20: 3 Total Free White Persons: 5 Total All Persons - Free White, Free Colored, Slaves: 5 1850 United States Federal Census Name: Peter Drollinger Gender: Male Age: 83 Birth Year: abt 1767 Home in 1850: Longswamp, Berks, Pennsylvania, USA Occupation: N Industry: Non-Industrial Response Line Number: 21 Dwelling Number: 165 Family Number: 173 Household Members Age Richard Work 37 Sophia Work 39 James F Work 14 Sarah A Work 12 Mayetta Work 10 Peter Work 8 Peter Drollinger 83 |

10510 | I2813 | Drollinger | John | 1745 | Aft 1814 | 0 | John could be a son of Gabriel Drollinger of Salem County NJ. He is mentioned in 1803 Orange county Lands deeds as an heir of Adam. So I place him as a son of Adam as Gabriel lived to Nov 1805. This John received a grant of 500 acres from the state of NC. When he disposed of his land, mainly to his sons, he signed his mark as a capital D. Nothing found on his wife. GLD John Drollinger received a grant of 500 acres in Guilford County from the state of North Carolina in 1784. Beginning in 1800 he sold off the grant in 100 acre parcels, each for $100. On September 20th of that year, he sold pieces to his son John, Jr. and Frederick. Frederick's deed does not name him as a son. Both deeds refer to these parcels being "part of a larger tract of five hundred acres" that John Drollinger obtained from the state of North Carolina. John Jr.'s 100 acres is named as the seat tract. Witnesses for both deeds were William and Henry Drollinger. Six weeks later on 1 November 1800 John sold 100 acres from the tract to his son Henry and this time the witnesses were William and John Drollinger. These three deeds were all recorded in the August 1804 Term in Guilford County. The next sale involving these individuals was 26 May 1804 when John Drollinger, Sr. sold a 93 acre Orange County seat tract to son William, witnessed by John and Henry Drollinger. The deed was proved on the oath of the witness John Drollinger. In the margin is the notation that the deed was delivered by William Drollinger. This deed was also recorded in the August 1804 term, but in Orange County. In this case the land was not from the 500 acre tract in Guilford, but from a grant entered in 1779, surveyed in 1782, and issued in 1784. The land was described as being on the waters of Traverses Creek with the Guilford County line as one boundary. The deeds identify all parties as being of Guilford County. The last sale found from the larger tract was from John to Adam Drollinger, who is not named as his son. The sale is witnessed by Henry and Frederick on 20 December 1813 and recorded in the November Term of 1814. Although John was unable to sign his name, he had a distinctive mark - a heavy bold D that looked as if it had been drawn with a Sharpie pen. Very importantly, it is that distinctive mark that sets this John Drollinger apart from all others of the same name. All these deeds were recorded with John's distinctive mark. To summarize: John Drollinger sold 4 pieces of his original tract to Drollinger men John Jr., Frederick, Henry, and Adam. He sold a separate tract to William Drollinger. John, Henry, and William are named as his sons, Frederick and Adam are not. These lands begin changing hands in 1816 when Adam sold his piece to neighbor Adam Strader on 4 September with the deed not recorded until November 1831. Strader as well as the witnesses John Chrisman and John Waynick carry surnames names associated with the Drollingers in several locations. Two years later on 29 September 1818 Frederick's land was disposed of at public auction by Frederick's widow Barbara. It was purchased by Catherine Drollinger, recorded in the May Term 1823. Witnesses were Adam Strader and John Chrisman. John [Jr.], identified as being of Willson [sic] County, Tennessee, sold his 100 acres to William of Preble County, Ohio 17 August 1819 and the transaction was recorded in Guilford May Term 1820. Henry kept his acreage until 9 March 1831 when he sold to Daniel Lough, recorded November Term 1832. These men are further linked by court records in Preble County, Ohio. The Chancery Court Record, Vol. D, February 1826 records that John Morkert, administrator of the estate of William Drollinger, petitioned the heirs to sell land in Preble County. He stated that William died in 1824 without issue and listed the brothers and sisters who survive him: John Drollinger, Adam Drollinger, Catharine Drollinger, Henry Chrisman and Elizabeth his wife, late Drollinger; John Hetsler and Barbara, his wife, late Drollinger; Christena Drollinger; Frederick Drollinger, deceased, his children, Henry, Eli, Gabriel, Aaron, Polly, Barbara, Martha, and Elizabeth Drollinger. Fortunately for Drollinger researchers a dispute over the title to William's Preble County land created records that provide critical information on these individuals. Preble County Chancery Court Minutes provide a lengthy record of confusion in the settlement of William Drollinger's estate. It is a litany of errors and omissions. The important item from these seven pages is the answer of Elias Drollinger in response to Thomas Gilmore's complaint that William's heirs threatened to dispossess him of William Drollinger's Preble County land that he purchased at a public auction in 1825. Gilmore claimed that because of an error in the appraisal returns to the court, his land was listed as the southeast quarter of section 21 rather than the southwest quarter and he sought to confirm his title to the land. In relation to proving that John Drollinger is the father of Frederick Drollinger, the following points made under oath by Elias are important: That William Drollinger was Elias's uncle. That Henry Drollinger, brother of William, was not ever notified of the proceedings. That Henry lived in Guilford County, North Carolina, at the time of William's death and that he lived there for some time after Morkert sold William's land and then moved to Fountain County, Indiana, where he lived [in 1836]. That Elias, Polly, Gabriel, Aaron, Barbara, Martha, and Elizabeth were the children of Frederick Drollinger, deceased brother of William. That at the time of the land sale, 3 December 1825, Gabriel, Barbara, Aaron, Martha, and Elizabeth were minors under the age of 21. That John Drollinger, brother of William, "died about four or five years since in the State of Tennessee leaving several children now minors under the age of 21?" That Barbara Hetzler, sister of William, "died about three or four years since, in Fountain County, Indiana, ? leaving several children minors under the age of 21?" These North Carolina and Ohio documents combined lead to the conclusion that Frederick Drollinger is the son of John Drollinger, Guilford County, North Carolina, and brother of John, Jr., Henry, William, and Adam, as well as Catharine Drollinger, Elizabeth (Drollinger) Chrisman, Barbara (Drollinger) Hetzler, and Christena Drollinger. And that Frederick's children were Elias, Polly, Gabriel, Aaron, Barbara wife of Elijah Harkrider, Marta, and Elizabeth married to John Noggle. At this time no record found has even hinted at an identity for Frederick's mother. Kay Germain Ingalls 2003 |

He may be included under his Mother as he is under the age of 21. GLD 2015 Gordon, I finally reviewed your question regarding John C Drollinger. I research the LDS Church FamilyTree File and only found his parents listed and two siblings. He was not listed. About ten years ago I was in Nauvoo and I searched the files located in the Family History Library listing all members of the LDS Church that lived in Nauvoo. The only names I found were Samuel and Rachel Drollinger, some of their children, along with Samuel's mother Hannah Kid Drollinger. If John C Drollinger went to Nauvoo and died he was not a member of the LDS Church. To live in Nauvoo and not be a member of the Church is very unlikely. Joseph Smith and the leaders of the LDS Church, when driven out of Missouri, traveled to Commerce, Illinois and purchased a large tract of land. They drained the water and prepared four lots per block for the saints to build homes. The LDS Church leaders changed the name from Commerce to Nauvoo. They have a list of all the people who owned these lots, and John C Drollinger was not listed as one. In Feb of 1846, members of the LDS Church were driven out of Nauvoo and went to the Great Salt Lake Valley. I doubt that he and his family were in that area at all. He had siblings in NYC, Frank, Gustave, Albert, Mrs George Beck. He had a bitter divorce so the children never spoke of his family. She found John, Ernestina, Gustave, Mary, Frank and Albert in the 1870 living with a Thomas Drolinger (single L) in the town of New Lots, PO East New York. Thomas born Bavaria. On 13 Nov 1993 Margurite wrote Rosie and Mamie had a bitter divorce passed down to the children. Consequently little was said by Florence (Drollinger) about her father or mother. Her father, John Henry, had custody but had to have help in their care. The divorce probably happened in 1897 1899 but she couldn't locate a record of it. Drollinger, John H. - bartender Plumas House Plumas County, CA 1885 Directory DHD email 12 Feb 2013 to GLD Ok, mystery solved. I was able to make contact this morning with the cemetery. She looked up his file. As I suspected, it is the grave of John Henry "Rosie" Drollinger and not an infant. John was cremated and his ashes were buried in a section of the cemetery called 'Infant' (which according the gal I spoke is just a name and does not have to do with infancy - sounds strange and goofy to me, but whatever...it isn't my cemetery and I'm not the one to name everything). 10549 | I2905 | Drollinger | John Martin | 13 Feb 1946 | 5 Dec 2014 | 0 | http://www.briangonzalez.com/portfolio/samples/Drollinger.htm Posted March 30, 2000 Tech grad warns students about politics in corporate America By Brian Gonzalez A 1969 Texas Tech graduate with extensive experience in multinational corporations warned students about the politics of corporate America, while sharing advice for those entering the workforce, during a Mass Communications Week advertising presentation. John Drollinger, a retired international media director for Coca-Cola Co. and former vice president of Publicis Advertising Agency in Sarajevo, told students at the University Center Tuesday how to succeed in corporate America. "It is best, as you start your careers, to recognize that politics are very real in corporate America, and it is a way of life," Drollinger said. Drollinger explained the importance of keeping loyalty to oneself as a priority, rather than loyalty to the company that one works for. "Do not believe in false loyalties, or you can get hurt personally and professionally," Drollinger said. "Do not expect a company to feel any responsibility toward you as an employee." Any company is responsible to the shareholders and the value of their shares first, Drollinger said. Employees should look for a company that is in sync with their own personal constitutions, Drollinger said. People should always look to turn opportunities into a personal advantage, he said. "When I was growing up, if you moved from one job to another, it was considered to be irresponsible," Drollinger said. "That just isn't the case anymore." Companies look for those with varied experiences, Drollinger said. They want employees who have learned from their mistakes. Included in the list of companies that Drollinger has worked for are United Press International, Pizza Inn, Hallmark, Coca-Cola and the McCann-Erickson advertising agency in Dallas. "I firmly believe that the best thing a person can do is to work at as many jobs as you possibly can," Drollinger said. Drollinger provided many other tips for survival in the corporate world. Gossip can prove disastrous in the corporate world, he said. "Don't gossip. Keep your mouth shut and your opinion to yourself," Drollinger said. "Give your opinion only when asked." Try not to limit your opportunities, Drollinger said. "I said I would never work in advertising, and the only thing I learned from that was, never say never," Drollinger said. "You don't know what's going to happen in your life." He also pointed out the importance of finding a mentor. Drollinger said that workers should find the one person who can help them out as a teacher. Also, he tells employees to look for the one person who they can help out as a mentor. Copyright © 2003 Brian Gonzalez. All rights reserved. (Note: because this article mentions that John Drollinger was a Texas Tech graduate in 1969, I believe he is no doubt the same person as John Martin Drollinger, who was married in Texas and would be of an appropriate age to have graduated in 1969. Additionally, this article also mentions that he worked for United Press International. His name is associated - presumably as a writer (as 'John M. Drollinger') - regarding an infamous serial killer by the name of Charles Joseph Whitman who, on 1 Aug 1966 on the campus of University of Texas in Austin, Texas murdered several people (Ref ancestry.com/Historical Newspapers > Anderson Herald (Anderson, Indiana) > 1966 > August > 3/ Page One 'Events Before Whitman Slayings Reconstructed') In reading the note about Drollinger's in the LaPort, Indiana, area about 1833, my family came from that general area also, after moving to Indiana from North Carolina. I unfortunately do not have my family notes in front of me as I respond to the inquiry, but we have visited that area many times, locating a Drollinger family cemetery. I have direct links to people buried in this cemetery and infact, it is many of my "great", "great" grandfathers and their family members. We have located the site of a very old brick factory, which the Drollinger's owned, as well as one of the original Drollinger homes built from brick made at this factory. The house is still occupied although we did not get to visit it. My wife has all of the details and I would be happy to share it with anyone who can make a connection. - John M. He became an angel on June 29, 2002. Some grieving parents told us that the second year is often worse than the first, and I have found this to be true, unfortunately. I have found so much comfort in the daily messages from Compassionate Friends. Comfort that has eluded me in all other quarters. Jacob's funeral was July 2, 2002 and my family came to his funeral. Since that date almost two years ago, I have not heard from my sister or brother ... not even a Christmas card, a phone call, a note. I have rationalized that they did not know how to deal with my son's death, so they say nothing. But I cannot rationalize anymore and the problems they suffer are for them to deal with; they are problems I do not have the strength nor the desire to deal with. Without Compassionate Friends, I would have no one at all to help so for all of you, I say thankyou. You are my family now. So, on June 29, please remember my sweet son, my sweet Jacob whom I still miss as much as I did when he died two years ago. It just doesn't seem possible. Thank you for all that you do. I wish my family had the strength, the courage and the love that all of you do and further, that they had the courage to share it as all of you do. Without you and your words and thoughts, I would probably be dead myself ... so from that regard, God bless each of you. And God bless my beloved son, Jacob Martin Drollinger (December 28, 1980 - June 29, 2002. Sincerely, John Drollinger Proud Father of Jacob and John jdrollinger@mindspring.com According to Virginia Jeanette Freyer Drollinger, wife of John Martin Drollinger, she and John only had two children. Newsletter of The Compassionate Friends Atlanta Area Chapters Summer 2003 "The mission of The Compassionate Friends is to assist families in the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child and to provide information to help others be supportive." A Nonprofit Self-Help Organization Offering Friendship and Understanding to Families Who are Grieving the Death of a Child A Father?s Thoughts Our son, Jacob, has been gone for 10 months now and it seems like 10 life times. There are moments when I find it so difficult to continue doing anything and it seems like life is so out of balance now. My wife and I only had two children, both boys. Jacob was the younger and he died June 29, 2002. Just six weeks to the day before Jacob died, my mother died. While at her wake, Jacob and his mother were sitting outside the funeral home in the twilight, and in that quietness, Jacob said to his mother, "Mom, just look at the thousands of fireflies coming up across the cemetery." And there were, filling the fading light with lights of magic. Jacob said, "Mom, this is probably the most spiritual moment I have ever had. All the fireflies rising from the ground are like the spirits of the deceased joining together in celebration." My wife and my son enjoyed that special time. And then, six weeks later we lost Jacob. The light of my life has been extinguished. After Jacob's funeral, my wife would spend many, many evenings sitting on the back porch watching the fireflies and remembering that special moment with her son. But the fireflies would always keep a distance and then one evening, just one flew on the porch and blinked its light at my wife. All she could do was cry and say, "Hi, son. I knew you were OK." And now, for the first time this season, not even a year since Jacob left, the fireflies have returned to the woods behind our house. And my wife and I sit on the porch in the stillness of the early evening and watch. We watch the fireflies dance in the woods, waiting for that special one who will come to our porch, blink his light, and once again we will know that Jacob is doing well as an angel in training that one day we shall joyfully join. I miss my son, Jacob, so much that it hurts. Everyday I hope it gets better, but so far it has not ... but the firefly is back and some joy can be found in that.
