Death Strikes Scio Family Again
Death Scio Family Again The latest in a series of tragic accidents which have plagued the Trollinger family of Scio struck Wednesday, when the body of Edgar Howard Trollinger was discovered, apparently dead from drowning. s During the past year three others of the family have met death accidentally, in addition to lesser misfortunes. It almost would appear that trouble delights in singling out the unfortunate family. . , When 43-year-old Edgar Trol-linger failed to return home for dinner Wednesday night, relatives began to search for him. He had been seen about 2 p.m. by his son-in-law, Odell Young but had not been seen since. ' About 7 p.m.. Young and Fred Bishop, a neighbor, discovered Trollinlger's body in Smallman Creek, lying face down In about 18 inches of water. It is reported that Trollinger was busy removing irrigation equipment from the stream when he apparently slipped and fell Into the creek bed. The Linn county coroner's office said that he had a bad cut near hta right temple, and that an autopsy will be made to determine definitely whether death was due to drowning. Trollingr's father was drowned In the same creek earlier this year when his tractor overturned, pinning him beneath it. His daughter. Denise, was fatally injured when struck by an oil truck in their yard, and a nephew died of strangulation while, eating a peanut butter sandwich. Trollinger himself had received serious injuries in an automobile accident. And his son, Calvin, 15, fell and broke a hip, which "has involved two major operations. 1 A minor misfortune compared to the others came when a fire destroyed the Trollinger barn. Trollinger, a farmer on Rt2, Scio, was a lifelong resident of Oregon. He was born at Scio on Nov. 13, 1914. Surviving are his wife, Norene; three children, Sharon Lee, 18; Calvin, 15 and Harold, 7; his mother, Mrs. Ora Trollinger and a sister Mrs. Lorene Young all of Scio. Funeral services will be held at the Scio Baptist church Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Miller cemetery at Shelburn.
