His wife, Ozella Presley Trolinger lived 1906- 1990. The next child, Thelma Trolinger Bobbitt was born 4/12/1910 and passed 3/12/ 1935 of dust pneumonia, exactly six weeks to the day after she married Glen Bobbitt. Glen remarried to Thelma's best friend, Lois, two years later and they were married for 71 years. I met them both at an assisted living facility in Amarillo shortly before they passed. The had a daughter who died in infancy. I'll track down dates for Maureen Trolinger Boxwell, the third child of "Charley" and Alma. My experience with really difficult to locate grandfathers' ancestors is to keep looking no matter what, I began looking for my greatgrandfather..... Frank Martin (there's an ordinary name) in 1995 and finally this year confirmed 7 generations getting his line back to Armagh and then Dumfries, Scotland c 1620. I'd always thought he was an alien myself before that, as I'd followed so many Virginia and Kentucky Martin's my head spun looking at and recording from census'. Finally what did it for me was posting his line on every Martin list and message board I could find, and someone saw him, as a sibling of one of their directs......I had to get confirmation, of course, the poster who contacted me sent a Bible transcript, which was written by a nephew of this Frank Martin, so I went to my oldest cousin who'd had close ties with this family as a young man and asked if he'd known anyone by this nephews last name, I just mentioned the last name only.... Drullinger....well,,,,,,my wonderful cousin Jim Bain said, "SURE, Jim Drullinger, he used to come to my Mothers house and sit on the porch and tell us about, well he said he fought in the Indian Wars. He'd have great stories and we'd all sit wide-eyed, he was my Mothers cousin I think, the mailman would bring him over in the mornings, to sit on the porch and visit....(I asked if he was an older man), he said "Sure, much older, he'd rock in the chair, he worked at the Folsom Prison (nearby Orangevale, CA) he was called Big Jim and nobody messed with him, he was the only one who could walk down the yard without being molested." I got all this from asking a last name, and I looked at the Bible transcript and there it was, Ella's first cousin was Jim Drullinger, he'd fought in the Indian Wars and he was the nephew of my Frank Martin, full name Benjamin Franklin Martin born 1847 in Virginia! And what a great story of the families' history to add to my collection too. With that the gentleman who'd collected the Bible transcript also gave me 7 more generations he'd already researched like I said back to Ireland, and then Scotland. What a gift. My Frank had ancestors! This summer I'd planned to go to Dumfries too but didn't have a chance, maybe nest year. When my cousin Jim and his wife came to Maui in August we celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and went to a luau, and I gave him a compilation of his Martin ancestors, including his grandfather Frank Martin (my great) I was thrilled to hand this to him, and told him how important he had been in confirming that this was the correct Martin family. This was a good lesson to me to never stop looking. 47891 | The following is a copy of an email response from Richard John Drollinger to me, David H. Drollinger, dated 13 Feb 2013 regarding the early deaths of his siblings: Well, since I was not on the scene yet, I can only tell you what I have been told which is "just" hearsay, ha, ha! I understand Burl only lived for an hour after birth, and Genevieve died of pneumonia at 19 months old. I remember well my Mother telling me about this and how hard it was especially to lose Genevieve at such a young age. They also lost another son Jackie Blaine to infectious hepatitis (yellow jaundice as it was called then). He was 4 years and 5 months old when he died. The doctor had told my Mother to make sure he had complete bed rest so the liver could rejuvenate itself from the disease. He loved to be with my Dad in the field, so when Mother wasn't looking he would sneak out to be with my Dad. Hence, due to lack of needed rest, he died. The following is an excerpt from an email response I (David H. Drollinger) received 24 Sep 2013 from Beverly Jean Carpenter-Hansen: Mom did have some siblings that did die young though. If I remember right Burl was premature but not sure. Genevieve was only about 18 months when she died but I don't know what from.....then Jackie became ill and died when he was about 4 and 1/2 from a disease but I don't remember right now what disease. I remember Mom saying he was really jaundice and something about the liver and that Uncle Larry started showing the same symptoms (Larry was younger than Jackie). They did an autopsy on Jackie to find out what it was and was able to treat Larry so he didn't die. | Drollinger, Burl (I5843)

47893 | The following is conjecture on my part but it would explain why Frederick Trullender the son shows up in the 1850 and 1860 census living with other families. So far his sister Deborah isn't found in a census prior to her marriage. Perhaps Joseph died prior to the 1850 census along with his wife Ann. It would explain the lack of mention in any documents. 47894 | The following is my case for why Alfred Hosea Trollinger is most likely not the son of Mary Brannon but rather the son of Alice Payne: Albert Bomar Trollinger married Alice Payne 14 Apr 1872. Albert's son, Alfred Hosea Trollinger was born 10 Mar 1873 about thirteen months later which would most likely make Alice the mother of Alfred. Albert's subsequent wife's (Mary Brannon) death notice states that Alfred Hosea was one of her "five sons". This may or may not be true that Mary was actually the mother of Alfred. One of the most compelling pieces of evidence that Alfred Hosea is not the son of Mary Brannon is the 1900 Census where Mary states she is the mother of six children with all six still living (those six children would have to be Albert, Benjamin Bomar, Rachel, Thomas Benjamin, Samuel Jim and Mary Hulda). If Alfred really was her son, Mary would have stated that she was the mother of seven children, not six. Mary also states in the 1900 Census that she and Albert have been married for twenty years which would place their marriage year at about 1880. Because Alfred's birth year is 1873 he was born about seven years before Mary and Albert were married. Hopefully, positive proof will soon surface that settles this issue for good. DHD 4 Sep 2023 From: Cheryl Page To: Gdrollinger@aol.com Cc: Date: Sun, 7 Sep 2014 14:02:35 -0400 Subject: Re: Alfred Trollinger obituary Hi Gordon, Happy to share with you! My mom told me that her grandfather was always called "Hose", short for Hosea, and that some folks called him "Hosie." Otherwise, she didn't know about the Alfred until shortly before he died and she had no information about his parents. I noticed that in the 1880 census, Hosie was listed as living in Franklin, Georgia, with Emiline Morrison, his grandmother; so there is some connection with the name Morrison. It shows that Hosie's parents were born in South Carolina. I have more questions than answers about who his parents were. I had started writing this, but before I sent this, I received your email with all the questions, so I will answer the questions I can and then send you another email. It may take me a few days to gather all the information I have. I understand your confusion with the South Carolina branch, I've been struggling with it as well.
