47928 The funeral of Mrs. Clair Drullinger Bewyer, whose death occurred at her home in this city last Thursday morning, was held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock from her late home. Re. W. Dieffenbach of the Lutheran Church officiated and music for the occasion was furnished by Miss Anna Vieth with Mrs. C. M. Fisk as accompanist.
The pallbearers were Frank Bilderback, Irvan Skow, Harry Scarborough, E. L. Eustice, Ray Gibford, and Earl Cooper.
The house was filled with relatives and friends and the casket was almost hidden with flowers brought and sent.
The death of Mrs. Bewyer was very sudden although she had been ill for several weeks. For a week she seemed to be improving slowly and had been able to be up a few minutes at a time.
She was born July 7, 1881, at St. Joe, Ill. The first day of January this year she became the wife of Mr. Frank Bewyer of this city. They went to housekeeping immediately after their marriage and her untimely death will be greatly mourned and the sympathy of many goes out to her husband and parents, who were here at the time of her death.
A large number of the Pythian Sisters attended the funeral.

47929 The Funeral of W. H. Huish.

(TRIBUNE SPECIAL.)

Payson, March 30 ? The largest funeral congregation held here assembled at the Payson Tabernacle to pay their last sad rites to W. H. Huish. On the stand were: Bishop J. S. Tanner, Henry Dinwoodey, Bishop J. S. Page, Bishop C. D. Evans, Thomas Daniels, Elders David Lant and Charles Brewerton; Elder Hyrum Lemmon presiding. Pallbears were six nephews of the departed, Edward, Joseph, Orson, Frank, Lorenzo and Fred Huish, all stout, sturdy young men.

The combined choirs of both wards rendered appropriate hymns.

Remarks were made by Charles D. Evans, Charles Brewerton, H. Dinwoodey and D. Lant.

A typographical err, made Mr. Huish?s last marriage 1893; it should have been 1882.

A biographical sketch of his life was read by Fred Huish.

A very large string of carriages followed the hearse to the cemetery, and almost left the city deserted.

Walter H. Huish was a self-made man. It was he who invented the first machine that made solid-headed pins in England, and nearly all the machinery of his own ship. He has been a benefactor to many people here.

47931 The further back we trace our family history the less there is written to be discovered about individuals. Philipp appears to be a tragic figure from the little I found about him. His young wife died a little over a year after giving birth to his only son. He would possibly had to have had to have a "wet" nurse to feed the baby. You can only wonder at how a single father was able to raise a baby in that time frame. Did his parents help with the child? Certainly he had to have help. Where did he live and how was he able to provide? There are unfortunately more questions than answers. The one thing I uncovered on a visit to the Karsruhe archiv with Rudi Drollinger was that Philipp suffered a Gant in 1839. This is an archaic word and had to be looked up. It is a German form of our Sheriff's Sale. The probability is that he borrowed heavily in order to emigrate to the new world and have a chance at a better life. His brother accompanied young Gustav to the USA and was enumerated in the census of 1850. After that there is no further record of the brother. Until the newspaper article recording his death by fire when Nathan Skeer's old tavern burnt down and he was killed in the blaze.

The high probability is he died in NYC. The entry in Manhattan of the death of one Philip Drolenger in 1834 would certainly answer the question of why Gustav emigrated to New York. He had to have some money to get from Germany to New York City. Possibly borrowed because of the Gant processed in 1839. What he did there is a mystery. Possibly what ever he did explains the debt of Philipp Frey to his son Gustav. So far no record of his passage has been found. Nor has a record of his being released to emigrate or move been located. Since Werner Hacker uses the term released it is some form of permission to move from one place to another granted by the authorities. The authorities in this case being the Crown of Baden. These records have to exist some where as Hacker published in 1980 so they weren't destroyed in WWII.

DEATH CLAIMS PIONEER LADY

Mrs. Stephen Zimmerman Died Christmas Eve

The passing of another Van Buren county pioneer was recorded this week in the death of Mrs. Stephen Zimmerman, which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Allie Tuttle, southeast of Hartford, on Christmas Eve, after a week's illness, aged 79 years.

Mrs. Zimmerman had been a resident of Keeler, Hamilton, and Hartford townships in this county for a half a century. Her maiden name was Miss Anna Drullinger. She was born in Dark county, Ohio, and 60 years ago was married to Stephen Zimmerman in Indiana. They came to Michigan 50 years ago and settled in Keeler. Eight years later they moved to Hamilton township where they lived until 1897, when they moved to Hartford where Mr. Zimmerman died eleven years ago.

They were the parents of five children, all of whom survive the mother. They are Riley Zimmerman and Chas. H. Zimmerman of Hamilton, and Mrs. Mary J. Olds, Mrs. Effie M. Tuttle, and Mrs. Dora B. Martin of Hartford. She also leaves one brother, Henry Drullinger of Hartford and one sister, Mrs. Viola Shockney of Keeler. She also leaves four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A sister-in-law, Mrs. David Briggs and husband, an aged couple from Napier, Nebr., arrived here Christmas to spend the winter with Mrs. Zimmerman, only to learn of her death.

Funeral services for her were attended at the Allie Tuttle home Monday afternoon, Rev. T. Porter Bennett officiating and interment took place at Maple Hill.

FIVE CALLED HOME
ERNEST H. FISH
Ernest H. Fish was born at Mannsville, New York, August 15, 1865 and died at his home near Hebron, Nebraska March 16 1915, aged 49 years and 7 months. He, along with his parents, moved to Chester, Nebraska, in 1878, and remained their until four years ago when he moved to Hebron and purchased the Hendershot farm, south of town, where he has since resided.
He was married to Miss Minnie e. Drullinger at Chester in June, 1890, three sons being born to them -- Warren D., Ernest Kent (sic) and Allan H. Fish, who, together with the wife and one sister, Mrs. C.W. Guile of Greenwood, Nebraska, survive him.
The remains were taken to Chester on the Burlington train Wednesday noon, accompanied by the relatives and about fifty friends and neighbors, and upon arrival were taken to the Methodist church (sic) where the funeral services were held conducted by Rev. Harry R. Royse, pastor of the Hebron Methodist church (sic), assisted by Rev. Vincent R. Beebee, of the Chester church (sic), the Chester choir furnishing the music. Prior to removal prayer and song were held at the home conducted by Rev. Royse and the home choir. He was laid to rest in the family lot in the Chester cemetery (sic), beside his father and mother who have gone on before.
In 1891 Mr. Fish joined the Methodist church (sic) at Chester and has lived true and faithful to the cause. He was an excellent vocalist and his fine tenor voice was always heard in the church choir and elsewhere whenever and wherever desired. The sermon by Rev. Royse from the words, - "If a man die, shall he live again?" extolled the virtues and sang the praises of the deceased, presenting a clear cut inception of the tax, proving conclusively that "If a man die he SHALL live again."

Omaha Daily Bee (Omaha, NE), Monday, March 22, 1915; pg. 3
HEBRON, Neb., March 21. - (Special) - Ernest H. Fish was born at Mannsville, N.Y., and died at his home near Hebron March 16, aged 49 years. He came to Thayer county (sic) and settled in Chester in 1878 and four years ago moved to Hebron. He leaves a widow, three sons and one sister, Mrs. C.W. Cuile (sic), of Greenwood.

The following poem, written by Mrs. Augusta Drullinger, a sister-in-law of the deceased, was read at the church service:
Mourn not for him who calmly lies,
By God's own hand composed to rest.
A gentle voice from yonder skies,
Proclaimed him blessed, supremely blessed.

To him earth's toil and strife is o'er,
Life's labor and its sorrow cease,
For he has gained that blissful shore,
Where dwells serene eternal peace.

Mourn not for him who's life declared,
That he has nobly borne his part,
For victory's golden crown he wears,
Reserved by every faithful heart.

Mourn not for him of faithful wife,
God's loving hand is over all,
They loved one has only crossed the tide,
In answer to the Saviour's (sic) call.

47942 The historic spelling of the name is Absalom. Because of that and because his son's name is also spelled Absalom, it appears very likely that that is way his name is also spelled.

Besides being husband and wife, Absalom and Ruth are also first cousins.

"John, eldest son of Henry Trolinger, was born in 1790, and grew up to manhood at his father's in the old home. He was a great advocate of education all his life. He was chairman of the county board of education and manager of the free schools until the County of Orange was divided, and afterwards held the same position in Alamance county until the Civil war. He was chairman, also, a part of the time, of the county court of Orange, and afterwards of Alamance. He advised and aided a number of young men to get an education, and was considered one of the best historians of his age. On the first of January, 1832, he commenced work on the first cotton factory built in the county, situated on Haw River, a short distance above where Stony creek runs into the river, and turned the river into the creek, a work that was thought by others could not be done. After he built the factory, others joined him and formed a joint stock company, naming it "The High Falls Manufacturing Co."He built about one mile of the N. C. R. R., west side of the river, including the high embankment at the river. He married Elizabeth Rony in 1809; to them were born five sons and five daughters. In October, 1869, this noble man passed away, and was buried by the side of his people in the family cemetery."

47948 The informant on William's death certificate was Julia Booth. It is unclear what her relationship with William was. She identifies William's father as James A. Trollinger. She may have been confused. William's mother's father's name was James Monroe Trollinger. Perhaps that is where the confusion may have come from. No "James A. Trollinger" can be found who could have been William's father. Therefore, his true father is unknown as of August 2023.
