6201 Aunt Harriet married rather late in life. She taught school at St Columban in spite of not having a college degree. It was a shock to my Orangeman Protestant grandfather that his daughter married a Roman Catholic.

subject: Grandma Henley question
Hi Aunt Mae!
Do you happen to know the date (or approximate date) Grandma and Grandpa Henley divorced?
I do know she married Buell Charles Shepard on 6 Feb 1959. As I'm sure you remember, he was an alcoholic and also abusive to Grandma. She soon divorced him as well. I don't know when they divorced either.
Any help you can provide would sure be appreciated.
How have you been doing lately?
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Lots of Love,
Dave

subject: Re: Grandma Henley question
I graduated from HS June 1947...one yr @ WSU, one Yr @ Central Wash in Ellensburg, then 12 months @ Providence Hosp. in Seattle studying to become a Registered Record Librarian (RRL)..on par with a Registered Nurse (RN). Paul & I married Jan. 26, 1951, I believe, and both Paul Sr. & Bernice were at the wedding...I had a job @ Sacred Heart Hospital, Spokane, & Paul was teaching @ Hutton Elementary school in Spokane, & because of the Korean War was going to be drafted so he decided to join the Marine Corps, & was sent to Camp LeJuene, No. Carolina. That's where Kathy Jo was borne.
We were in another world then & I don't know when they divorced. I do know he was living with a woman in Tri Cities area when he died, circa 1964. Bernice lived in a little house about 3 miles from my childhood home. We were in our new house on Dell Drive & Paul went to his funeral. That's all I know Dave.
Hope it answere a question or two.
XO & Daily & Eternal Blessings, Aunt Mae

6245 Auto Mechanic - Retired
Death due to Sudden Paralysis from Stroke

John Henry Anderson was born in Martin Co NC. After the death of his father he moved with his mother an sisters to Vance Co NC work in the North Henderson cotton mill. He was called Uncle John by everyone.

Machinery, especially automobile machinery was his great passion. He owned one of the earliest motorcycles made in the U S A. He worked at the Candler Automotive shop.

He married Essie Trollinger who was the love of his life. Shortly after her death from stomach cancer Uncle John had a massive stroke and was bedridden.

His sister Annie A Anderson took care of him. She waited on Uncle John hand and foot. I never heard her raise her voice to him.

6246 AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF JACOB, SON OF JOHN BONEBRAKE (written 1884) (Obtainedfrom Our Bonebrake Heritage by Marie Rizek Bonebrake)
I was born in Preble County, May 22, 1812. When I arrived at the ageof eight years, my Father sent me to a German school that grandfatherDewalt Bonebrake was teacher. I could read and spell German tolerablewell, and I have not forgotten the German yet. When I moved withfather to Fountain County, Indiana in 1821, the advantage of school inthose thinly settled neighborhood were very poor at that time, but inall I got about 12 months schooling in the English Language. I marrieda loving and amiable girl on the 14th day of November 1833, by thename of Lavina Drollinger, who proved a great comfort and a blessingto me through all her life. In 1840 we started, with fathers family, for Iowa, our little family of three children. 1841 arrived in DavisCounty. 1844 moved to Monroe County and about 1844 moved to MarionCounty, Iowa. In spring of 1862, we, with our seven children (threedied when small) two of whom were married, started with a train ofabout 35 families to cross the plains for Oregon, including twobrothers and two sisters and their families with nearly all ox teams.About the middle of June we entered the Indian Country and saw a greatmany Indians, but they never molested the emigrants til we arrived onSnake river west of the Rocky Mountains. By that time our wagonsnumbered 110. From this time on we traveled about 500 miles with greatanxiety and fear, frequently we would pass graves where emigrants hadbeen murdered by Indians. We buried five men, side by side, that weremurdered by Indians. By this time our train numbered 211 wagons, butby close guarding and watching our relatives all landed in Oregon thefirst of October 1862, considerably reduced, but we felt very thankfulthat we had once more reached civilization. I stopped in JacksonCounty one year, then to Douglas County, rented three years, in 1866we moved to Coos Bay where I located, had a pleasant home. But the11th of October 1879, I was bereaved of my dear companion. All of mychildren are living on the coast, and are as follows:
