He was born near Hartville, Missouri, in the Coon Creek community. At the age of 18 months, he moved with his family to Idaho, where they lived until Bobbie was ten years old. They then returned to the family farm in Wright County, Missouri. Bobbie served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force from 1954 until 1958. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he made his home in California for several years, and began working as a heavy equipment operator and foreman for a construction company. While on a job in Arizona, Bobbie met Joyce and they were soon married. They made their home in California for a few years, and then in 1978, decided to return to the family farm in Missouri, where they physically built their home themselves.
