Wanda Jean Kind
Retired homemaker and farmwife, Wanda Jean (Drollinger) Kind, 76, of Choteau died Feb. 12, 1997, at a Great Falls hospital of heart failure.
She was born April 12, 1920, to Clyde and Clella Drollinger at Kalispell, graduating from Flathead County High School there.
On Sept. 19, 1937, she and Oscar L. Kind were married in Fort Benton. They made their home in Kalispell where he worked in the mills and she began raising their family.
In 1950 they moved to a farm on the Sunny Slope Bench, west of Fairfield. She worked along side her husband, helping with lambing, irrigating, haying and all facets of farm work. She deeply loved her rural lifestyle.
In 1971 they retired and sold the farm, then moved to Choteau , where her husband continued to work part-time as a sheep shearer until 1990.
As a young woman, she sang in her church choir. And when they were both younger, the couple enjoyed taking the family to community dances.
She enjoyed canning home preserves, fishing, playing cards and games, knitting and crocheting. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Her survivors included her husband; a son, Jerry Lee Kind of Great Falls; daughters, Mary Jean Armstrong and Barbara Triol, both of Choteau, Donna Stevens of Browning and Betty Short of Billings; a sister, Clyda England of Choteau; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.
Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
The memorial service was Feb, 15 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Choteau. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O'Connor Funeral Home in Great Falls. Burial of the ashes was in the Choteau Cemetery.
