- RICE, Nancy Hart Trolinger Rice born on August 13, 1927 to Jack Trolinger and Florence Mildred Thompson Trolinger in Mercedes, Texas died in Austin, Texas on April 23, 2018. She was predeceased by her parents and four brothers: Henry Judson Trolinger, John Shelby Trolinger, William Carpenter Trolinger, and Arthur Jones Trolinger. Throughout her 90 years of life she remained a generous, caring woman for whom family came before everything. She and her much loved husband of 72 years shared life in Dallas, McKinney, and Austin, Texas where they raised three daughters into resilient adulthood: confirming the widely-held view that she was that kind of rare mother who could inspire, prepare, and then release her children into the world with the confidence that only attends excellent parenting. She is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Rice, Jr., three daughters, Dr. Mary Lynn Rice-Lively (Bob Lively), Suzanne Hart Rice Napier (Tom Napier), and Florence Anne Rice, as well as four equally adored grandchildren (Dr. Daniel Ratcliff and Shannon Ratcliff, Sarah Lively Hill, Max Snyder and Jenny Mitsuda, and Utah Snyder and Poppy Coles) and four great-grandchildren (Jonathan Beck and Gavin Elliot Ratcliff, Henry Fontaine Hill, and Olympia Hart Snyder.) The family wishes to thank Yoshie Takeuchi, Kindred Hospice, and the staff at Southpark Meadows Assisted Living and Memory Care for their attentive care of our mother, and kindly requests that in lieu of flowers friends and families honor her memory by making a gift to .
