    • Helen McCalla, 94, of Sheridan died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Viewing will be 5-7 p.m. today at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Clark officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mrs. McCalla was born Feb. 22, 1909, in Sheridan to T.G. and Luetta (Smith) Scott. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1927 and from St. Patrick's Hospital in Missoula, Mont., as a registered nurse in 1931. She married Maurice McCalla Aug. 18, 1933, in Deadwood, S.D. She worked as a registered nurse at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County for 25 years. She was the first coordinator for hospice when the program began in Sheridan in 1984, and she held the position seven and one-half years.

      She was a member of the Social Order of Beauceant and First Congregational Church and was past matron of Naomi Chapter 2, Order of the Eastern Star, and its grand representative to the state of Washington. She enjoyed needlework, reading, sewing, cooking, fishing and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1960, and by a brother, a sister and one great-grandson. Survivors include a son, Terry of Upton; a daughter, Carol Ann Copp of Ranchester; 27 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
