- Kurt Alan Tornberg, long-time Alaska resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2022, after a year long battle with cancer.
Kurt was born on Elmendorf AFB to Bruce and Jo Ann Tornberg. Four and a half years later, his sister, Karen, joined the family.
Over the years, they lived in Anchorage, Seward and Houston, Alaska. Kurt enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing, chess, science fiction, classical guitar, drawing and painting with various mediums. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, Artist, skilled Tradesman in several fields, an HVAC Technician, Refrigeration Technician, Chef and Salesman.
Kurt was an intelligent, spiritual man, he studied many different philosophies of life and death, and was always in pursuit of the answers of the universe. He was always an attentive host and enjoyed all people and social interactions.
October 1, 1983, Kurt married Elisa Drollinger in Eagle River, Alaska. They had three children making a family of five.
Kurt is survived by his wife, Elisa Tornberg (Anchorage), parents, Bruce and JoAnn Tornberg (Houston, AK), sister, Karen Hakim (Anchorage), son, Luke Tornberg (Anchorage), son, Lynn Tornberg (Kimball, NE), daughter, Clara Jo Tornberg (Anchorage), nephew, Ali Hakim (Anchorage), and six grandchildren, Lynden, Sadie, Luna, Blair, Xander, and Tanner, plus a grandson coming in December.
Kurt was preceded in death by his son, Levi Joseph, (from a previous marriage), and grandson Levi Thomas.
