- Patricia Ann Dowden, 75, of Kansas City, MO (formerly of Maryville, MO) passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024 due to complications of Alzheimer's Dementia.
Patty was born February 8, 1949, in Trenton, MO, to Dr. John Charles and Arlene Trullinger Beeks. She spent her childhood in Stanberry, but moved to Maryville when her father received a teaching position at Northwest Missouri State University. She graduated from Maryville High School in 1967 and received a Bachelor Degree in Home Economics Education at NWMSU in 1970.
Patty married Richard Dowden on September 3, 1971. Together they raised two children, Ryan and Dana. Patty was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. Although she never became a full-time teacher, she subbed with the Maryville schools for many years and taught Adult Basic
Education. She was hired as one of the first secretaries at Union Carbide and clerked auctions for many years.
Patty's most important jobs were as a wife, mother and Grammy. She was deeply involved in her children and grandchildren's activities. She was a den leader, room mother, carpool driver, and pro at hosting any kind of party or event. After Ryan and Dana got older she helped Richard with the day-to-day operations of Price Funeral Home.
Patty also made sure to take time for herself and her own passions. She was a golden member of Chapter HT P.E.O. and a member of the Maryville First United Methodist Church. She won numerous golf tournaments over the years and also played many Bridge games with her best girlfriends. Patty also put her home economic skills to use. She was an amazing cook, created numerous detailed ceramics, and could crochet, knit, and cross stitch beautifully.
Patty is survived by; Husband Richard of Kansas City, MO, Son Ryan (Amy) of North Liberty, IA, Daughter Dana (Rick) Bosley of Smithville, MO, and Grandchildren Eli and Anna Bosley, Urban, Hayes, and Holland Dowden and numerous friends.
Patty is preceded in death by her parents John & Arlene Beeks, sister Beverly Johansen, infant daughter Nancy, and father and mother-in-law Harvey and Florence Dowden.
Funeral Services 10:30am Saturday, August 10th at Price Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Friday, August 9th at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Maryville, MO.
