Hello, Terry. My name is Bob High. I have been researching the genealogy of my families and came across your input of the Trullingers on the "RootsWeb's WorldConnect Project".

I am the grandson of Arcadia Trullinger who lived in Molalla, Oregon. My great grandfather was Milton Stonewall Trullinger. From the records handed down to me from my mother (Agnes Bowman High) and my aunt (Hazel Bowman Hopfinger), and from researching the Iowa state genealogy archive while on business trips to Des Moine several years ago, information I obtained stated Milton's father was Gabriel (b. 1804 and married to
Charlotte French). His father was Daniel (b. 1780). I have been trying to reconstruct the family genealogy from that point backwards, primarily using the typewritten copy of an oral history given by Fred Trullinger, August 5, 1956, at a family reunion of the Daniel and Elizabeth Johnson Trullinger descendants.

I have several questions you might be able to clear up:

      (1) Looking at the information supplied on the above mentioned web page, I didn't see Milton as any of the Garbriel's children you identified. Of course, the names Gabriel and Daniel seem be common through out the history of the Drollingers and Trullingers.

      (2) The oral history of the family indicated the original Trullinger (named Drollinger (troll) by the German locals) was an orphan adopted by an American physician and his wife and daughter while traveling through Germany prior to the Revolutionary War. Are you familiar with this
account? You or someone seems to have traced the family back to several generations in Germany.

      (3) I was able to obtain some Drollinger/Trullinger information from the LDS Family Search submitted by a Darrell Hooper of Boise, Idaho. Do you know him?

      (4) Answer to "2" below.

I had some interaction with the daughter of my grandmother's brother, John Trullinger, several years ago when visiting my aunt in Molalla. She also was interested in the Trullingers. I don't recall her name. She was looking for the original letter written by Gabriel Trullinger to his brother Daniel in the spring of 1848. I saw the original many years ago. I don't recall whether my mother or Hazel had it. I hadn't found it in my mother's things before she died in the mid-80's.

I do have copies of a few things you might be interested in, as follows:

      1. The oral history mentioned above typed by John's daughter for Hazel.

      2. A 1943 letter to Hazel from one of her aunts, either Ellen or Etta (it is not signed) with the epitaphs of Milton, Maria Jane Trullinger and my grandmother, Arcadia. It is a beautiful letter reminiscing about her brothers and sister life in Iowa.

      3. A copy of a newspaper (I believe it's the Molalla paper) describing the above mentioned family reunion.

      4. A copy of the marriage license of Milton Trullinger and Margaret Ann Carr, July 8th 1850. I'm confused on this one, as the information I have is Milton was married to Maria (Muriah) Jane Hampton married July 14, 1850. Maria Jane's name is spelled out in the epitaph in the letter above to Hazel.

My mother also always mention Maria Jane. But, I do have a copy of marriage license to Carr. Maybe there are two Milton's in the family, but it seems odd they would be married a week apart. Do you have any information on this contradiction.

      5. Gravestone Record of Ringgold Co., Iowa, of the burial plots of A.C. Trullinger (1859-1932)and family (Cynthia, Elmer, H.C., Horatio, Margaret Ann, Nellie, Sarah L, and Wm. F. I haven't been able to identify an A.C.

      6. The biography of Milton from the "Biographical & Historical Record of Ringgold County, Iowa, 1887".

      7. A photograph of some of the Trullinger family my mother gave me. It pictures her aunts and uncles; Irv, Ella, Loren, Ellen, John, and half brothers Chat and Howard. Also her grandfather (Milton), grandmother and mother (Arcadia).

      8. I also have other photos my mother and Hazel left me, but many of the people I am unable to identify.

I would be glad to share copies of any of the above with you if you are interested. Please let me know.

Another question. Where do you live, Oregon or Iowa?

I have copied my cousin Jim, who is also interested in the genealogy of our family. We hope you can help. Looking for to your response.

      Thanks and best regards,

      Gordon,

My great grandfather, was Milton Stonewall Trullinger. He was first
married to Margaret Carr. I didn't have any information on their
children until I received you input. He later married Maria (Muriah)
Jane Hampton. As per my other note, they are buried near Molalla,
Oregon. Arcadia married Zebulin Bowman, who incidentally was lived about
60 miles north of Charlotte. I'm still trying to run down that side of
the family. They immigrated to Oregon in 1998. Zeb married my
grandmother there. They homesteaded in Oregon.

They had four children: My mother Agnes, Hazel, Lovell and Donald. My
parents moved to San Francisco when I was about 3. I was born in
Silverton, Oregon. My brother and I spent all our summer months on my
grandparent's farm in Molalla until I reach high school.

I had access to many of the Trullinger's, unfortunately, I was too young
to collect all the information I wished I had in later life. My mother
and Hazel provided me with what I do have prior to their deaths in the
      last 10 or so years.

All my genealogical information is on Family Tree Maker, Version 3.01. I
can send you the descendants on the Trullinger side if you also use that
application. Otherwise, I think I should be able to send you individual
pages. I'll play around and see if I can.

I will try to research the Hans Michael side in NC while seeking
      information on the Bowman's.

Anything documents I have that you or someone else is interested in let
me know. Incidentally, I do have a copy of the Gravestone Records of
Ringgold Co. of A.C., Cynthia, Elmer, H.C., Horatio H. Margaret Ann,
Nellie, Sarah L. and Wm.F. I copied when I was in Des Moine.

Also, where are you and your ancestors in the family tree?

      Thanks, Bob.
