- Biography of John C. Epperson 1848-1926
EPPERSON, John C., was born in Monroe Co., Iowa., Dec. 14, 1848 andarrived in Oregon in Sept, 1868, then came to Coos Co. in September,1869.
He first settled on Catching slough.
In 1878 he moved to Douglas Co., then to Eastern Washington, then toPuget sound, then to Coos Co. in 1883 and has resided there since.
His wife's maiden name was Mary D. Winningham, born in Clackamas Co.,Or., Nov. 14, 1863.
Their children are Rolen C., age 14; Charles E., 12; Cora K., 10; MedaM., 9; John P., 8; Sallie A., 5; Alton R., 4. He is a farmer.

JOHN EPPERSON DIES AT COBURG
John C. Epperson died at his home near Coburg this morning at the age of 79 years. He is survived by his widow, five sons, Rolland and Milton, Powers; John, Ray and Wayne, of Myrtle Point; and three daughters, Mrs. L.A. Hufford, Riverton; Mrs. Joe Gibson, Ferndale, Calif., Mrs. Wesley Atterbury, Almaden, Calif., and Mrs. H.G. Harrington of Coburg.
Mr. Epperson came west in 1859, settling in Nevada. In 1860 he moved to California and in 1862 he came to Oregon settling in Coos County. After living in that district for 50 years he came to Lane County four years ago. He was a member of the Masonic lodge.
His remains will be taken to Myrtle Point for interment. Arrangements are being made by the Veatch chapel.~~~

John C. Epperson, for more than fifty years a resident of this section, died Saturday morning at his home at Coburd (sh/be Coburg), Oregon, aged 78 years. Several years ago Mr. Epperson submitted to an operation for bladder trouble, and he never recovered his former health. Four years ago the family moved to Coburd to be near a daughter. The body was brought to Myrtle Point, arriving Sunday afternoon over the Southern Pacific, accompanied by Mrs. Epperson and sons Ray A. And J.P. Epperson. Funeral was Monday afternoon at the Schroeder chapel, Rev. Chas. Barklow officiating and burial was in Myrtle Point cemetery.

Oregon State Death Certificate #145 states that John Epperson died of uremia intoxication due to an old operation on his bladder that never healed. Contributory prostate disease. John Epperson and his second wife, Effie Epperson, lived at Motor Route "B" in Eugene, Oregon for 3 years. Informant was Mrs. Effie L. Epperson of the same address. Birthplace was listed as Marion county, Iowa; parents were Ira Epperson and Nancy Bailey. Occupation was farmer.
