      Mildred Naomi Baxter, 79, of Harrisonville, died April 9, 1989, at Cass Medical Center in Harrisonville.

      She was born July 18, 1909, in Marble Rock, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis Orr and Martha (Smith) Weekly.

      Mrs. Baxter moved with her family to Fredrick, S.D., where she grew up and attended school.

      On Apr. 24, 1928, she married James Everett Baxter.
      The couple moved to Kansas and lived in both Johnson and Cass Counties until 1973, They then moved to Urich, Mo.

      Mrs. Baxter had been residing at ABC Health Care since 1985.
      She was a member of the Lutheran church.

      She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Clyde; a daughter, Anna Mae West; two sisters; a brother; and her husband, who died in 1985.

      Survivors include two daughters, Margaret White of Sweet Home, Ore., and Maxine Pollard of Garden City, Mo.; two sisters, Belva Johnson of Lebanon, Ore., and Minnie Hewitt of Raymond, Neb.; and eleven grandchildren.

      Services were April 13, under the direction of Dickey Funeral Home in Garden City, the Rev. Charles D. Kaighen officiated. Pallbearers were Chuck Baxter, Mike Daniels, Robert Pollard, Mike VanSandt, Jimmie West and Marty West. Burial in the Duncan Cemetery, near Kingsville, Mo.
