YAKIMA - Jo Ann Kulczyk, 67, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2001 at Yakima Providence Medical Center after a long, hard-fought battle with heart disease. Mrs. Kulczyk was born on September 16, 1933 in Denver, Colorado to Bruce Allen and Ruth Gertrude (Goodsell) Drollinger. She moved to Yakima with her husband Punky Caldwell and their daughter in 1972. Jo worked at Sears and Roebuck in the Yakima Valley Mall until her retirement in 1985. After Punky's death in 1978, Jo met and married Ken Kulczyk in 1980.
She liked to travel, and especially enjoyed visiting the Oregon coast and Disneyland. She was an excellent seamstress and made many garments for her family, including her daughter's wedding dress and bridemaid's dresses. She loved her family dearly.
Jo is survived by her husband of 21 years, Ken Kulczyk of Yakima; two daughters, Thelma Brown and her fianc'e, Forrest Hedrick of Yakima, and Sheri Nelson and her husband Brad of Phoenix, Arizona; her son, Matt Kulczyk, Selah, WA, and five grandchildren, PFC John Brown, David Brown, Joshua Brown, Caitlin Kulczyk and Justin Hedrick.
A memorial service will be held a later date, at which time all of Jo's friends, past and present, are welcome to join in celebrating her life. In liew of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in care of Keith & Keith Funeral Home.
Jo's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Providence's Intensive Care and Acute Care staff, as well as Dr. Baljit Sharma, Dr. Mark Berman, Dr. Thomas McLaughlin and their respective staffs for their care and compassion.
