GRIFFITH John Fox "Jack" , formerly of Hyde Park, died Sunday, June 19 at the age of 79. Born December 17, 1925 in Seattle, Washington to Frances Trullinger and John Hugh Griffith of Portland, Oregon. Navy veteran WWII, graduate of Reed College, where he met Mary Inez Filion, his wife until her death in 2002. Graduated with a PhD in biochemistry from Iowa State, and worked for Procter and Gamble following graduation as a toxicologist. He was an adjunct associate professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He served as an original member of the Toxicological Advisory Board of the Consumer Product Safety Commission and as a member of the Society of Toxicology and the Cosmetic Chemists Association. Jack is survived by his daughter; Liz (Rick) Hoffmann, Jeannie Griffith, Linda Blackhurst, Kay (Johnny) Warren and his grandchildren Matt (Angie) Lowry, Lydia and Kim Hoffmann, Alex and Eric Truelsen and Drew and Laura Warren, as well as his great grandsons, Ben and Connor Lowry. In addition to his beloved wife, Jack was predeceased by son-in-law Jim Blackhurst. Jack and Mary Griffith were founders of the Northern Hills Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship. He also served as secretary and president of the First Unitarian Church in Cincinnati. He volunteered his time to both Literacy Volunteers and Junior Achievement, among many others. He loved and supported the arts and lent his fine tenor voice to many choral groups, including the King's Men and the Welsh Choir. His warmth, sparkle, and wit will be dearly missed. He was a true gentleman to the last. Memorial service on Wednesday, June 22 at 11 A.M. at the First Unitarian Church, corner of Reading Road and Linton Avenue. Cremation Society & Fares J.
