- What is the proper order of Mary's name?
Apparently she went by 'Mary' at least in her early life because that is the name she is listed under in the 1930 Census.
Mary later married Edward Markwood Snively (1895-1958)

Veedersburg News 21 April 1944 -- James Oliver Cartwright, 77 died early Tuesday morning at the Lake View Hospital in Danville after being there about 10 days, Mr. Cartwright had been in failing health for some time. He was born Feb 11, 1867, the son of Mary N. Baker Cartwright. He was married to PHoebe Ann McElwee, who preceded him in death 4 years ago. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Snively of Hoopeston, a son Kelso of Veedersburgk a grandson, two great grandchildren, a half brother, Harry of Veedersburg and half sister, Mrs. Bertha Redenbaugh of FIthian, Ill. Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at Methodist Church where he was a member with Rev. Charles Howard officiating. Burial in Bonebrake Cemetery with Fisher & Son in charge.

Mrs. Phoebe Ann Cartwirhgt, 65, life long resident of this section, passed away Tues morning at 3:30 o'clock, at lake View Hospital, where she had been seriously ill for the past two weeks of a complication of diseases. Mrs. C. was b. July 11, 1874, in Ft. Co near Wallace. She was the d/o Mary Parks and Matthew McElwee. She was a member of Freedom Church and of the Order of Eastern Star and was highly respeted by all who knew her. She was marr. to James Cartwright who survives with one son, Kelso, Veedersburg and one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Drollinger, Hoopeston Ill; one grandson, Jim, and one great grandau; three brothers, Albert and Dvid, Hillsboro; Oscar, Kingman and one sister, Ida Davis of Wallace. Fun serv Thurs aft at 2 o'clock at Meth. Church with Rev OW mc gaughey and Rev. Charles
Howard offic. HC Fishero & Son were in charge of serv.
