Mr. James Albert Harrill, general manager and secretary and treasurer of the Mooresville Telephone company, committed suicide early this morning at his home on Academy street. Mr. Harrill had been ill since the latter part of the summer when he fell In his office, fracturing his hip. He had previously suffered a fractured knee when he fell from a fire truck while rushing with the local company to answer a fire alarm. He was just able to be back in the office when he fell and fractured his hip. He had been a patient since that time in the Lowrance hospital here, until about ten days ago, when he was able to return to his home. Members of the family were about household duties when the tragedy occurred. Mrs. Harrill, upon returning: to the room found Mr. Harrill breathing his last, with his throat cut. A razor was lying at his side. Medical aid was hurriedly summoned, but Mr. Harrill did not live until doctors arrived. Mr. Harrill was a native of Catawba county, a son of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Harrill, who, live at Newton. He was fifty years of age. Surviving besides his parents are his wife, who before her marriage was Miss Nannie Trollinger of Catawba county; a son, Dr. James Albert Harrill, an interne at King County hospital, New York; and a daughter, Miss Sarah Harrill of Mooresville, who teaches in the Troutman schools. A sister, Mrs J. A. Coley, of Newton, also survives. Mr. Harrill was a member of the First Baptist church here, and of the local Fire Department. He had been associated with the Mooresville Telephone company for the past twenty-six years.
