- Carolyn Joan Massey, 83, of Danville, Illinois, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 26, 2020 at her home with her family by her side.
Carolyn was born on January 25, 1937 in Perrysville, Indiana, the daughter of Glen and Evadna (Drollinger) Spandau. She married Billy Wayne Massey on June 10, 1956 in Danville, Illinois. He survives.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bill; her daughter, Candi (Kevin) Ingalsbe and her two sons, Greg (Bunie) Massey of Fishers, Indiana and Tim (Gena) Massey of Danville, Illinois. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Tiffany (Jeff), Tiara, Tia, Trista (Chris), Trey, Anthony, Evan, Austin (Sarah), Ethan (Ashlyn), and Ian (Angel). She leaves behind nine beloved great-grandchildren with one on the way and many nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Kenneth Spandau and Marvin Spandau; sister, Charlotte Padgett; infant sister, Susan and great grandson, Thao Nardoni.
Carolyn was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was active in her Gainmore Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Illiana Antique Auto Club.
She spent her life devoted to the Lord, modeling her love for Him with a servant's heart. She delighted in caring for her whole family, from her husband down to the littlest great-grandbaby and every one in between. She loved well and spent her younger days serving in the church, sewing, caring for others, working in her beautiful yard, attending car shows and traveling in the motorhome with her high school sweetheart and husband of nearly 64 years (only six weeks shy).
We will miss her sweet smile, generous heart and welcoming spirit. Her house always felt like home.
A private family Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Park.
