  He is mentioned in the 1803 Orange county multiple grantor deeds as an heir of Adam. So I place him as a son of Adam mainly for this reason. He may or may not be the father of Jas J. Trollinger but I place Jas J as his son until further evidence turns up to negate this placement. This great variation probably was due to his broken German accent or lack of knowledge of the English language, at the time when these records were prepared by the Colonial officials of his neighborhood. the records of Guilford County, North Carolina, show that a grant of 200 acres of land on the waters of Jacobs Creek was issued to him 14 October 1783, His application was entered for this land 17 May 1779 (Grant #783, Bk. 34, P. 61). The U. S. Census Records of Rockingham County, Salisbury District, North Carolina, for 1800, show Michael Trolenger, age 45 and up, as the head of a family in which were: 1 female, 45 and up (evidently his wife; 2 males, aged 16 and 26; 1 male, under 10; 3 females, aged 16 to 26; 1 female, under 10. Old census records of Rockingham County for 1790 show Michael Trollender as the head of a family in which there were ___ males and ___ females. Near him in the 1800 records are Samuel Trolinger, aged 26 to 45, and his wife, aged 16 to 26, with one child under 10; and Adam Trolinger, aged 26 to 45 and his wife, 26 to 45, with four children, all under 10. Samuel and Adam are next to each other on the list. Their location on the records and the presence of the name "Adam" seems to link thesre families to Adam Trolinger, the emigrant. Michael's children are believed to be Adam, Samuel, Thomas, and others shown above.
