- Zeltha Helen Clegg Rowley, 94, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the Gem Village Assisted Living in Blackfoot.
Zeltha was born March 4, 1919 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Leslie Richard Clegg and Zila Buttcane. She was raised in Blackfoot. While in high school she worked for her father at Clegg Furniture Store as a bookkeeper.
Following graduation she married Melvin Cook Hooper on June 24, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had five children.
During the war they moved to Vancouver, Washington where they helped build the aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Arizona. Later they moved to Boise where she lived until their divorce.
Moving to Mesa, Arizona, she met Var Rowley. They were married on April 22, 1961. He also had five children. They did a lot of traveling and visited many different countries. They worked on a service mission at the bishop's storehouse for many years. Var died in 2001 from an accident leaving her alone.
Her greatest joy in life was her five children, her stepchildren and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an outstanding cook and always had something on the stove to feed anyone who came over. Her children and grandchildren all agreed she was the best (grand)mother in the world. Her love was unconditional and in return she was loved by everyone.
She lived in Mesa until her ninetieth year when she returned to Blackfoot where her daughter, Rena along with the loving staff of Gem Village Assisted Living took care of her for the remainder of her days.
Zeltha is survived by her ten children, Gerry R. Hooper of Mesa, Arizona, Sandra H (Donald) Ashby of Roy, Utah, Ronald L. (Phyllis) Hooper of Mesa, Arizona, Rena Blaser of Blackfoot, Idaho and Roger M. Rowley, Kenneth Rowley, Gordon Rowley, April Coleman, Penny Rowley and Chris Rowley all of Mesa, Arizona; sister, Lona Mae Sorensen of Blackfoot; 42 grandchildren; 81 great grandchildren; and 15 great great grandchildren.
