- Ted Mills, 80, died at 1:24 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018, in Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne. He was born in Jonesboro, Indiana on December 3, 1937, to the late Edward Lewis and Maude (Drollinger) Mills. He married Sandra Shoaf on July 17, 1977. She survives.
Ted was a box maker at Glass Containers and also a bartender at Tobby's. He was a US Army veteran. Ted loved his grandchildren dearly and was a NASCAR fan. He never met a stranger.
In addition to his wife, Sandra, Ted is survived by a son, Mike (Kelly) Ritter, Ohio; daughters, LaVonna (Rick) Smith, Marion, Valerie (Shawn) Smith, Jonesboro, Vicki Mills, Gas City, Amanda Bowlds, Gas City; grandchildren, Chuck Circle, Joshua Circle, Kooper Smith, Dillon Cole, Bradley Smith, Icelie Cole, Caleb Ritter, Courtland Smith, Bailey Smith, Lyevaeh Bowlds, Athea Mills, Sheila Bowlds, Grayson Smith, Dominick Bowlds, Unique Bowlds; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; brother, Tom (Dotsie) Mills, Gas City; sister, Tobby (Jim) Yount, Florida; and several special nieces and nephews.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters and four brothers.
The family will receive visitors from 11-1 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, Indiana. A Celebration of Life for Ted will begin at 1 p.m. immediately following visitation. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Gas City.
Memorial contributions may be made in care of the funeral home to help the family with funeral expenses.
