James Henry Davis, 80, of Danville, died at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 11, 2005) at Carle Hospital in Urbana.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14 at Pape Memorial Home and Cremation Garden, 10 E. Williams St., Danville, IL 61832; A family gathering and visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13 at Pape's; Burial: Danville National Cemetery.
Jim was born Feb. 15, 1924, in Potomac, Ill., the son of Homer James and Velma Drollinger Davis. He attended Potomac schools and was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He had formerly worked at Paxton Wholesale Grocery. He had owned and operated Davis Electric and Refrigeration from 1962-2001. He had been an active member of the Danville Auxiliary Police and an avid bowler.
Jim married Margie Lucille Dunning on July 2, 1944, in Danville and she preceded him April 1, 2001. Survivors include: two sons, Harry (Darlene) of Tyler, Texas, and Michael (Barbara) Davis of Oakwood; three grandchildren, Scott Davis, Melissa (Ricky) Shields of Whitehouse, Texas, and Darin (Pam) Davis of Shoals, Ind.; a brother, Reese Davis of Tamarac, Fla.; and three sisters, Helen (Chester) Weage of Eau Claire, Mich., Mary Belle (Paul) Boen of Alvin and Lucy (Quint) Slevin of Danville.
