Obituary
Harris E. Meyer
Harris E. Meyer, 85, Stevens Point, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at St.Michael's Hospital. He had been in ill health for the past couple ofyears.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at noon Friday at theShuda-Plover Family Funeral Home in Plover. Burial will be in theVeterans Memorial Cemetery in King.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Friday until theservices.
A contribution to a Ronald McDonald House or to Ministry Home Care -Hospice Services of Portage County is appreciated in lieu of flowersand cards as per his wishes.

Mr. Meyer was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Ridgeland, a son of the lateWilliam and Amelia (Kottke) Meyer. He grew up and attended schools inRidgeland.
He entered the United States Army on July 22, 1942, in Milwaukee. Heserved as a radio repairman Tech 4 and earned the Good Conduct Medal,Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, SixOverseas Service Bars and one service stripe. He was honorablydischarged Nov. 24, 1945, from Fort Sheridan, Ill.
Upon his return from the Army, he began working for the Soo LineRailroad as a linesman in Duluth, Minn.
He was married to Mary DeSpiegelaere on April 17, 1956, in Duluth,Minn.
They were transferred to Minneapolis, Minn., and eventually to StevensPoint where he retired from the Soo Line in 1982 as a electronicsengineer.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Cindy (Scott) Drollinger,Karen (Jay) Casey and Rebecca Meyer, all of Portage County; six sons,Scott, Todd (Diane), Eric and Chad, all of Portage County, Lloyd(Jaymie), Menomonee County, and Jason, currently serving in the UnitedStates armed forces; one brother, Bob (Betty); two sisters, MildredSeval and Iris (Jerome) Timbli; and eight grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Jane Kupp; and onebrother, Clarence.
