- Gladys Fern Drollinger
Gladys Fern (Grammy) Drollinger of 1223 E. Burlington St., who with her late husband owned and operated the City Park rides for over 30 years, died Friday at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a brief illness. She was 81.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the George L. Gay Funeral Home, with the Rev. George Paterson officiating. Emtombment will be in Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation is from noon until 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be to the University of Iowa Foundation, in care of Handicapped Children's project, or Friends of Old Time Music.
Mrs. Drollinger was born Feb. 22, 1903, in Montogomery County, a daughter of John F. and Lydia Kirby Croy. She married Charles Lee Drollinger on Nov. 1, 1920, in Clarinda. She was a menber of the Methodist Church in Kalona, where she and her husband lived until 1948.
Surviviors include three sons, Lyle and Charles Lee Jr., both of Iowa City, and Ralph of Fort Dodge; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gayle (Mrs. Lee) Drollinger, Washington; and a brother, Raymond Croy of Oregon. Her husband died earlier.
