      William J. Titus, 68, 6098 Sommers Ave., died at 3:47 p.m. Thursday Feb. 22, 1996, at Wabash County Hospital.
      He was born on May 2, 1927, in Wabash County to Ralph E and Hazel (Sipole) Titus. He married Billie Jo Gray on May 2, 1978. She survives.
      He retired from Container Corporation in 1989 after 41 1/2 years service. He was a Navy veteran and a member of Wabash Eagles Lodge,, American Legion Post No. 15 and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post No. 286.
      Also surviving are two step-sons, Steven Gray, Treaty, and Bill Gray Jr., Marrow, Ga.; one stepdaughter, Paula Earls, address unknown,; three brothers, Richard Titus, Pierceton, Thomas Titus, Independence, Mo., and Jerry Titus, Melbourne, Fla., one sister, Virginia Karnehm, Lafayette, and six stepchildren. Four brothers and one sister are deceased.
      Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Manchester Avenue Chapel, Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service. Tony Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
      Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
      Preferred memorials are to the Wabash County Cancer Society or to the family.
