He was ateacher, retiring from the vocational printing department at TerreHaute North Vigo High School. He was born May 31, 1923, in Terre Hauteto Hugh A. Titus and Bernice Deal Titus. Survivors include his wife,Barbara Jean Taber Titus; two daughters, Jeanne Long and her husbandJim of Sullivan and Nancy Martin and her husband B.J. of Terre Haute;one brother, Paul A. Titus and his wife Barbara J. of Knoxville,Tenn.; one sister, Dorothy Eccles and her husband Don of Jasonville;one sister-in-law, Pat Titus of Orange Park, Calif.; fivegrandchildren, Michael Burt, Robert Burt, Michelle Criss, Shayna Neeseand Brandon King; seven great-grandchildren, Justin and Cody Burt,Kaylee and Alyssa Criss, Adam Neese, Kendall and Grace Burt; andseveral nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents;and one brother, Don Titus. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World WarII, serving in Luxemburg, Germany, where he received a Purple Heartand Silver Star. He received his master's degree in industrialeducation from Indiana State Teachers College and began teaching inVigo County schools. He is a past master of Terre Haute Masonic Lodge19, a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972, KermanGrotto, and a member of Disabled American Veterans. Services are 11a.m. Thursday in The Callahan Funeral Home, with the Rev. RoyCarpenter officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park, withmilitary rites by VFW Post 972 and the American Legion. Visitation is4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7 p.m.
