MARION - Maude was born Sept. 15, 1914, to Osborn E. and Nancy RebeccaBirkhimer Staley in Marion.
She lived all her life in Marion and the Marion area.
On Aug. 15, 1936, was married to Ernest Messenger. Ernest was a WorldWar II casualty in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany.
On March 9, 1952, she was married to Lowell L. Cook. He passed awayJan. 23, 1983.
One sister, Pauline Hall of Nashville, Tenn., survives her. Belovedgrandmother to six grandchildren, Robert Drollinger, Rebecca (Robert)Richardson, and Sara (Robert) Dailey of Marion, Jeff (Rhonda)Drollinger of Lima, Cindy (Charles) Ingram and Sherry (Joe) Pace ofFlorida. She is survived by eight great-grandchildren, KevinDrollinger, Scott Drollinger, Lindsey Drollinger, Jordan Drollinger,Kyle Drollinger, Chelsea Dailey, Jeanna Dailey, Jamie (Santos) Medranoand Jeremy Gerster; and great-great-grandchildren Marianna, Jasmineand Zachary.
She is also survived by nephews, Richard (Dorothy) Wiggins of Galion,Donald (Marge) Wiggins of Illinois, the Rev. David (Sandy) Stephens,Bellefontaine; nieces Betty Lutz of Florida and Dalene (Douglas)Barnett of Tennessee; and son-in-law Robert (Peg) Drollinger ofFlorida as well as many great-nieces and nephews.
She was a longtime member of Greenwood United Methodist Church,Greenwood UM Women and Wednesday Morning Bible Study. Through theyears, she taught Bible classes and served on various committees atthe church. She was a member of Gold Star Wives of America. Shepreviously was a volunteer at the Maplewood Nursing Center and sheretired from Sears. Maude loved reading, sewing and helping others.
Maude was preceded in death by two daughters, Joyce Drollinger andBarbara Allard, grandson Mark Allard, sister Lucille Wiggins, brotherPaul Staley, and son-in-law Robert Allard.
Calling hours and visitation is 11a.m. -1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8,2005, at Greenwood UM Church, 404 N. Greenwood St., with service tobegin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Keith Luke officiating.Flowers may be sentto the church. Burial in the Marion Cemetery.
Boyd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made to Greenwood UM Church.
