- Richard M. Ellman, 57
Rick "went home to be with the Lord" on Sept. 15, 2016, after having surgery for lung cancer, in Salt Lake City at the George E. Wahlen VA Hospital.
Rick was born on May 5, 1959, in Kalispell to Raymond and Sarah Ellman. His childhood was spent in Hungry Horse until the family moved to Columbia Falls in 1964. He went to school and graduated from high school in Columbia Falls. For a short while after his father died in 1972, he lived with his favorite aunt and uncle, Ada and Pat Ellman, in Spokane.
After high school he enlisted in the Army. When he returned home he worked as a cook at various restaurants in Kalispell and Spokane.
He was married to his wife Lisa in the late 1990s; she passed away a couple years after they were married.
Rick lived a simple life; he was always happy to visit with friends and family. He enjoyed family gatherings, loved riding his bike, going to Woodland Park and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Barbara Ellman, and Burl and Ragna Drollinger; his parents, Raymond and Sarah Ellman; his wife, Lisa Ellman; and his sister, Cynthia Martinez.
He is survived by his brothers, Daniel Ellman and his wife Kate of Columbia Falls, Tim Ellman and his wife Patty of Billings, and Paul Ellman and his wife Julie of Kalispell; and his sisters, Sheila and her husband Douglas Morin of Kalispell, and Jane and her husband Jim Leatherberry of Phoenix. He is also survived by a few aunts, lots of cousins, many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews. His family will dearly miss him and his smile.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, at St. Richard's Catholic Church in Columbia Falls, with graveside services to be held right afterward at St. Richards Cemetery. There will be a lunch and celebration of life held at Doug and Sheila Morin's house at 395 West Valley Drive in Kalispell after the service.
