- Owen W. Grindrod, 71, of Kittitas, died Wednesday at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital. He was born in Ellensburg on December 11, 1910. He served in the Army during World War II in the South Pacific.
He and Mildred Miller were married in Sumner on April 4, 1942. Mr. Grindrod was a custodian for the Kittitas School District from 1958 until 1965 when he returned to farming. He retired in 1972. He was a member of the Kittitas Community Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred of Kittitas; three sons, John, Tracy, and Rick Grindrod, all of Kittitas; three daughters, Mrs. Judi Hughes of Wenatchee, Mrs. Neil (Janet) Wilson of Kittitas and Mrs. Grover (Bernice) Ortega of Lynwood; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Lois Grindrod of Rexburg, Idaho and Ed Grindrod of Olympia and two sisters, Mrs. Dora Colton of Enid, Oklahoma and Mrs. Lloyd (Betty) Vining of Yakima. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Grindrod in 1974.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the IOOF Cemetery. Pastor Maurice Neal will officiate. Friends who wish to attend may meet at the cemetery.
