Gertie A. Gilbert, the daughter of Francis H. and Mary Doran Trullinger was born April 19, 1901 in Guthrie County, Iowa and passed away July 15, 1974 at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 26 days.
On December 7, 1920 she was united in marriage to Charles Gilbert at Carroll, Iowa. They lived in Audubon County all of their married life and in Audubon the past 40 years.
She was a member of the World War I Barracks Auxillary and the Senior Citizens group in Audubon.
Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers Len and Edward. Mr. Gilbert passed away February 28, 1974.
Survivors included her children, Edward H. Gilbert of Madrid, Iowa; Darrell L. Gilbert of Audubon; Jeanette, Mrs. Max Lantz of Colville, Washington; and Mary Young of Des Moines; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; three sisters; May Duncan of Coon Rapids; Bertha, Mrs. Alf Hetland of War Road, Minnesota; and Jane, Mrs. Don Hilgenberg of Coon Rapids; one brother Bernard Trullinger of Coon Rapids; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Vernon M. Sorensen on Friday July 18, 1975 at 2:00 PM at the McFadden Funeral Home.

- Grandpa and Grandma Gilbert were married on 7 December 1920 by a Justice of the Peace in Carroll, Iowa. Grandma was a baptized Catholic. Although I have no information for certain, it appears that she married out of the Catholic church, and thus was married by the J.P. The witnesses at the marrige were Lenoard Trullinger, Grandma Gilbert's brother, and Alta Gilbert, Grandpa Gilbert's sister. They were married by John A Drees, a Justice of the peace in Carroll, Iowa.
