    • PROBATE: Muskingum County, Ohio Will Book B, 1814-1831, p.196, FHL #317300. Will of John Corbus, Feb 17 1817. This day the last will and testament of John Corbus deceased was produced in open court and proved on the oaths of Clement Brooke and Jacob Funk the subscribing witnesses to the same and ordered to be recorded. Sarah Funk and Benjamin Rickets the executors named in said will personally appeared in court and declined acting as surety. For New appointment see page 198. Will: In name of God amen I John Corbus being sick in body, but of perfect mind, and memory, do make this my last will and testament, in manner and form following (to wit) first and principally, I will my soul to Almighty God, who give to me and my body to the dust from whence it came. I will that all my just debts and funeral charges be first paid and balance of my estate as follows. I will unto my wife Elizabeth one third as the law allows, and the balance equally divided among my four children, say, John Samuel Corbus, son, and daughters Rosanna, Christina, and Elizabeth Corbus, to each an equal share. Lastly, it is my will that Sarah Funk and Benjamin Rickets shall be, and are her by appointed my Executors, and guardians for my children, and to see justice done them, not have them bound out ? the principal broken upon in case my widow marry again. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 9 day of November, 1816. Signed: John Corbus, Signed in the presence of us: Clement Brooke and Jacob Funk.

Abstract of pertinent information: William Helmick and Rosanna his wife, John S Corbus, Christina Corbus and Eliza Corbus, heirs of John Corbus, deceased in the Court of Common Pleas 7 Aug 1827. Suit filed by Rudolph Worrell & Elizabeth Worrell his wife late Elizabeth Corbus of said County . . . that she Elizabeth was lawfully married in the state of Maryland to one John Corbus late of said county deceased on the 29 Oct 1809 . . . after the marriage of your orater to the said Corbus he purchased from one John McIntire late of said county deceased two lots of land in the Western addition of the town of Zanesville . . . George Jackson & your orater Elizabeth were co administraters of the estate of John Corbus . . . The defendent (George Jackson) believes that the said John Corbus died in March of 1817 & he admits the letters of administration granted to him
