- Lt. Shull Revealed Killed in Pacific
Central City, Neb. (AP) - The war struck a cruel blow to the family of Lt. Clarence M. Shull, 23 former Nebraska Central college and Central High school athlete.
On the first birthday of his youngest daughter, Gerilyn, news came from the war department Friday that Lt. Shull died of wounds suffered in action in the south Pacific area.
Shull, overseas the past four months, was commissioned as a bomber pilot in the army air corps in December, 1942. He was the third war casualty from the 1938 Central High school graduating class. Others were Jerry and Bob Clayton, cousins, who died at Pearl Harobr [sic].

Central City, Neb. - Mrs. Clarence M. Shull, jr. has received the purple heart from the war department in honor of her husband, former Central City High and Nebraska Central college grid player, who was killed in the south Pacific while piloting an army bomber.

Word has been received that Second Lieutenant Clarence Shull of Central City, nephew of Ray Shull of Archer, died from wounds received in action in the South Pacific area. Lieutenant Shull was 23 year sold. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Janna Rae, 3 years old, and Gerilyn, one year old; his parents and a sister Rogene.
