- Des Moines - E. Joy Trullinger, 90, passed away January 20, 2018 at her home.
Joy was born December 12, 1927 to Oscar and Eva (Smith) Anderson. She was a fervent crusader of her faith. She was very active in her church. She was able to help support her family when her dad was in the Veterans Hospital for several months. She kept busy in her youth during WWII by supporting the war efforts. She was an assistant Camp Fire leader and a den mother. Joy volunteered with RIF to assist grade schoolers in reading programs and held office with the Des Moines Chapter of the PTA. Joy also kept busy with community projects, and was especially fond of tending her Victorian garden and roses at her home.
Joy is survived by her children, Sheryl Wendt, Gary (Becky) Trullinger and Larry Trullinger; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Shirley Ware; and her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Galilee Baptist Church, 2208 Des Moines Street. The family will greet friends one half hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Joy will be laid to rest with Robert at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter at a later date.
The family would like to thank Doctors Agey, Zachary, and Christie for their medical care and to Pastor Alan and Mark for spiritual guidance. Also thanks to HCI Hospice for their excellent compassion and care.
