He was the third child born to Matt and Tami Fahnlander on October 27, 2007, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. The family moved to Urbandale when Max was a baby. His siblings are Noelle, Brady, Timmy and Bridget.
Max attended Holy Trinity Catholic School through 8th grade. He was a sophomore at Dowling Catholic High School. Max cherished his faith, family and country. He recently mentioned interest in joining the U.S. Army. He chose St. Francis of Assisi as his saint for his upcoming confirmation as they both shared a love of nature and animals. Max loved trying to make his peers laugh, listening to and making music, and going for long walks on the many trails in Urbandale. He enjoyed family time, making up games and adventures with his many cousins, and spending time on the family farm. He also loved sports, both watching his beloved Green Bay Packers and Iowa State Cyclones, and playing football through his freshman year at Dowling. Additionally, he enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, swimming and golfing at the annual family tournament in northwest Iowa. Max was looking forward to being involved in the Dowling Catholic Boys Swimming program this year.
Max was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his mom, dad and siblings; grandparents: Debbie and Kent Trullinger of Tingley, Iowa, and JoAnn Fahnlander of Royal, Iowa; aunts and uncles: Tricia (Jeff) McDowell of Phoenix, AZ, Tony (Nancy) Trullinger of Westfield, IN, Rob Fahnlander of Johnston, IA, Kathy Senne of Rochester, MN, Kristin (Scott) Shelton of Kingwood, TX, Mark (Lori) Fahnlander of Royal, IA, Kerry (John) Schoepfer of Ames, IA, Vince (Linda) Fahnlander of Plymouth, MN, and Kevin (Lisa) Fahnlander of Royal, IA; as well as many cousins and friends.
