- Thomas G. Todd, aged 83 years, died at the home of Mrs. L. B. Doane whom he had made a home with for several years. Born at Livingston County, New York March 11, 1833 and at the age of 15 was on his own. In 1855 he went to California and mined for three years, then to Frazer River District in British Columbia where he mined and then came to Portland and lived near here three years; then to Lewiston, Montana then mining near Warren, Idaho.
In 1886 he came to Portland and worked in a flour mill. He purchased 120 acres of land west of Forest Grove, increased to 400 acres. He was one of the wealthiest men in the county.
His wife died about three years ago, no children. He is survived by three half-brothers: A. B. Todd, Forest Grove; Reuben Todd of Syracuse, New York; and William Todd, Chicago; Two half-sisters: Mrs. Louisa Buxton, Walla Walla, Wash.; and Mrs. Allie Tracy of Saratoga Springs, New York. Two other half-brothers not heard from in years.
