Benjamin DeLong, an aged retired farmer, died yesterday afternoon of a stroke of apoplexy sustained last Friday. Deceased was born in Longswamp 74 years ago and was a son of Benjamin and Katharine Rohrbach DeLong. He conducted farms at Lehigh Church, in Lower Macungie, and finally at Sigmund. He retired four years ago and about a month ago came to this city to take up permanent residence with his daughter, Mrs. Ferdinand Snyder, of No. 130 North Jefferson street. The widow, who was Sarah Steele, survives with these children: Solomon, Bethlehem; Kate, wife of Frank Ruth, of Alburtis; Sarah, wife of Ferdinand Snyder; Mary, wife of John Bortz, of Allentown; Ella, wife of Edwin Ziegler, of Mertztown; Jennie, wife of Daniel Rodenberger, of Hereford; Cora, wife of Morris Gery, of East Greenville. Frank DeLong, Mrs. Maria Steele, Mrs. Cornelius Drollinger, all of Mertztown, are surviving brothers and sisters. Mr. DeLong was a member of the Huff's Church and was an elder and deacon in that church and previously held the same position in Lehigh Church. Last year he was overseer of roads at Hereford. The funeral will be held on Tuesday next at 2 o'clock. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
