Doug K. "Packy" Trollinger Sr.
LIBERTY — Mr. Doug K. "Packy" Trollinger, Sr., 74, passed away Friday,May 13, 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2011 atHanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel. Burial will follow atGuilford Memorial Park.
Mr. Trollinger was of the Methodist faith. A graduate of Bessemer HighSchool, he often spoke of his happy childhood growing up in theBessemer community. He was a retired department manager for Cone MillsWhite Oak Plant with 43 years of service. He was a sports fan wholiked college basketball, especially Carolina and Duke and also theN.F.L. Mr. Trollinger was an avid gardener and was happiest whenriding his tractor. He enjoyed playing golf and scored a hole in onein 1994 and also won two tournaments with the Cone Mills team.
Mr. Trollinger was preceded in death by his parents, North Edison andOpal Kennett Trollinger and brothers, Richard and N.E. Trollinger.
Mr. Trollinger is survived by his wife of 51 ½ years, Nancy BrownTrollinger of the home, son, Ken Trollinger and wife, Becky of Julian,daughter, Sharon Trollinger, Tammie Greene who is like a daughter,both of Liberty, brother, Don Trollinger of Greensboro, grandchildren;Brian and Brad Casey and Amanda Trollinger and his beloved caninecompanion, Cody.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care ofGreensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405 or to Shiloh UnitedMethodist Church, 7394 Shiloh Rd., Liberty, NC 27298.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday, May16, 2011 at the funeral home.
