Yvonne was born in Pottstown on May 6, 1929. She married Earl "Yogi" Strom on October 14, 1952, and together they raised their five children in their North Coventry home. Yvonne led an active life filled with many hobbies and interests, and she donated her time and considerable talents to various charitable and volunteer organizations. She was an avid golfer and won the Philadelphia Super Seniors Golf tournament at the age of 66. Yvonne played duplicated bridge and participated in the Philadelphia Country Clubs Bridge League. More recently, she enjoyed Mah Jongg and Book Club at Brookside Country Club. Yvonne was a talented artist and donated works of stained glass to the Pottstown Memorial Cancer Center and Shenkel United Church of Christ. The bust she sculpted of her late husband, Earl, was displayed in the Basketball Hall of Fame during the year of his induction. In 1991 she was honored for her charitable work on behalf of The Compassionate Friends. She volunteered countless hours to Friends of the Arts and instructed art appreciation classes in local schools as part of the Art Goes to School program. As a devoted member of Shenkel United Church of Christ, she served on many committees, taught adult and children's Sunday School classes and organized "The Great Shenkel Auction" for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents, George C. Trollinger and Dorothy (Ecker)Trollinger; her brothers, Carlos and Gary Trollinger, and her beloved husband, Earl Strom. She is survived by her daughters, Margie DeRenzis and Susan Hess; sons, Stephen, Eric and Jonathan Strom; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandson. A memorial service celebrating Yvonne's life will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Shenkel United Church of Christ, beginning at 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be sent to Shenkel United Church of Christ, 1580 Shenkel Road, Pottstown, PA 19465. Please note "Yvonne Strom" on the memo line of your check.

Life Saving Class Passes Red Cross Tests at YMCA Girls Under Instruction of Mrs. Edna Eagle and Assistant, North Hinton; Second Tests to Be Held.
A group of girls in the Life Saving class passed their Red Cross test.s the past Friday at the YMCA. Their Instructor is Mrs, Edna I Eagle, who is assisted by North Hinton, registered Red Cross Life Saving Examiner. The Juniors who passed are Ethel Shaner. Arabella Gottshall, Yvonne Trollinger, Gayle Galloway, Virginia Robinson, Jane Sooy, Ann Pocht ' and Fern Drumheller. i The Seniors who pa-ssed are Isabel! Mentzer, Jean Mentzer, Dorothy Freeh, .Arlene Weave, Lorraine Jones and Francis Biehl. Girls who were on vacation when the tests were taken, have two hours to make up. They will complete the course on their return. Those girls are Jean Pratt, Sylvia Shaner, Joyce Swavely, Mary MacFarland and Phyllis Sell. It was announced that Lorraine Jones and Fern Drumheller will be in charge of swimming on Wednesday nights at 7 o'clock.
