- MEBANE - Mr. Thomas Ellis Bingham, age 73, of Mebane, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several weeks of failing health.
Born in Boone, NC, he was the son of the late John McCoy Bingham and the late Kenova Morrell Bingham and was married to the late Grace LaVerne Trollinger Bingham, who passed in 2009. Ellis was a retired salesman with Sydel-Wolley Chemical Company and was a former member of Haw River Christian Church. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed cheering for the Atlanta Braves baseball team.
Mr. Bingham is survived by his son, Jeffrey Bingham of Mebane; a grandson, Robert Wesley Bingham; five sisters, Betty Wright of Orlando, FL, Janet (Bill) Movetz of Deep Gap, NC, and Margie Townsend, Bobby (Ted) Townsend and Mary Jo (Herb) Pritchard, all of Boone, NC; three brothers, John (Joan) Bingham of Kernersville, Mack (Judy) Bingham of Yanceyville and Danny (Peggy) Bingham of Rocky Mount, NC; and special cousins, Joseph and Francis McNeil of Boone. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; daughter, Julie Bingham Harrhuis; and two sisters, Peggy Amburn and Patsy Hodges.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. James Rosser. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service and other times at the residence.
