- John L. Osborn Sr., 85, of Potomac, passed away at 12:27 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the VA Illiana Healthcare System, in Danville.
Mr. Osborn was born on March 18, 1931, in Freeland Park, Indiana, the son of George Albert and Bernice (Drollinger) Osborn. He married Jennie May Sishler on January 17, 1953, in Michigan. She survives.
He is also survived by two daughters- Diana (David) Larkin of Potomac and Melody (Jerry) Frichtl of Armstrong; six sons- George (Elizabeth) Osborn of Potomac, Jack Osborn Jr. of Potomac, Andrew (Mary) Osborn of Potomac, Charles Osborn of Abilene, Texas, Roger (Barbara) Osborn of Rossville and Robert Osborn of Potomac; one sister- Agnes (Dennis) Seals of Hoopeston; Shirly Osborn of Pawnee, Illinois; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters.
Mr. Osborn served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1952, serving during the Korean War. He worked for several years as a farmer. He was a member of the Potomac Church of Christ, Rossville American Legion, lifetime member of DAV and the Korean War Veterans Association. He enjoyed watching TV and movies, doing small engine repair, building model airplanes with his grandchildren and rebuilding an old Army Jeep with his sons.
